I’m looking to start on a 4WD conversion and it’s hard enough trying to find out and figure what parts you need for an 04, much less in Juneau AK. We have no junkyards here and rust buckets sell for a premium. Just wondering if anyone has had any unique solutions or advice for me.

About the only thing I can venture is watch all the local places for a 4x4 of your year with a bad engine or rear ended .

Explore all the forums you might find someone that did a SAS within a day or so having all most all you need

You might have to spend the money to buy a rust bucket

Having parts shipped from the lower 48 would be so very expensive then your dealing with unknown quality .

In this case buying what you want might be the easy way

Honestly I think your best bet is finding a rear end totaled 1st Gen down in Seattle and use AML to ship the whole thing up. It certainly will add cost to the build, but unless you know someone down in WA (or you have the time) that could pick the big parts for you and just ship that.. I'm thinking a whole truck would work better. My guess is it would be about 1k to shipo_O

Another option would be looking up in Anchorage for one and tow it down to Haines yourself and ferry it. I mean it'll still be $$$...but maybe cheaper than barging it from Seattle

    That’s freakin’ perfect then.

However since you have a 2004 there may be an issue with the ETCS-I electronic throttle system. Only 2003/2004 automatic trucks had this. I don’t know if the 2RZ/3RZ had it, but I know for sure the 5VZ has it. Take a picture of your throttle body for me.

Also there’s a website called car-part I used to find my parts.

I did the conversion on my PreRunner and I’m happy to answer any questions you may have.

I believe so. I don’t know if the 3RZ has it or not.

Believe it’s only an issue with Auto 5VZ’s then.
