3" tuff country lift

Hey there, i am getting a tuff country 3" suspension lift on monday, i would like to keep my stock rims with the tpms, i would also like to put 33x12.5 on my stock 17" rims, has anyone done this? do i have to go to the metric version 285x70x17? or do i have to get new rims and tires? and last but not least, if i do have to get new rims will the tpm's fit in the new rims?? thanks for the help.

That size tire will not fit on stock wheels without a 1/2" spacer, some wheels will accept our TPMS and some will not. Most wheel shops are pretty familiar with the new gen Tacomas and should know what wheels can accept TPMS. I was able to keep mine with my wheel of choice.

 

thanks for the reply, i have decided on 285x70rx17 Dick Cepek mountain cat, that way i can keep the stock rims, and still have a bigger footprint in the mud.

 

You will still need a 1/2" spacer with that tire and stock wheels.

 

les schwab says no spacer is needed with the 285/70r/17, i will make sure that it will not rub on the inside, thanks for the info. i know they have put lots of lifts on toyotas there as they are pretty much the only game in town.

 

Thats not from personal experience, thats just what I have heard from other 2 gen owners.

 

dude you were right on those tires not fitting with those rims, tried 1 spacer and it rubbed, les schwab would not put 2 spacers together so what an excuse to buy new rims as well, oh well all looks great, they used a rev tek 3" suspension lift with some new ultra 185 baja rims along with 285/70/17 Dick Cepek mountain cat tires, and yes the tpms fit no problem. thanks for your help. i will post a pic as soon as i get her washed and the camera out.

 

No problem glad to help, all tire sizes arent the same from brand to brand even though my NITTOs are 285/70/17 they might be bigger or smaller than your DCs. Buyin wheels is a tough decision, Ive spent hours looking for the right ones and then something comes out I like better. Now hurry up and lets see some pics.
