Oh yeah. My dad’s company included. He does hard chrome plating for them. Plastikon is right down the street from me, I was pretty surprised I saw their name stamped into my radiator shroud on the truck.

My neighbor actually worked for Plastikon. He told me when he worked the line, they would paint all the auto interior trim with rattle cans. Thousands and thousands of rattle cans.

He told me the reason why they do this is because the EPA license for a commercial spray booth system was far too much money.

So even though this is a huge company that makes all the plastic trim in Tesla, they’re painted with rattle cans. Tens of thousands of pieces of plastic.

No. Freaking. Way. So Plastikon from the late 90s that was manufacturing parts for the toyota tacoma is still painting plastic parts by rattle can for Tesla??? How did they not grow enough to afford a paint center for their manufacturing???

They do more than Tesla. I’m pretty sure they still make plastic parts for TABC in Long Beach.

He told me about how expensive it is. You need to change the filters in the spray system every thirty minutes.

That's crazy man. That's just too funny to think a bunch of people standing on manufacturing line and holding rattle cans for the final process of the parts:rofl:

Imagine how bad their fingers hurt. Even with the comfort spray handles, my hand still hurts over time.

Just shows you how strict they are here in Cali. My dad’s branch here in the East Bay was issued the final license for the types of chemical process he does in the state, it was outlawed after that.

They can never ever close that branch either because it would mean millions of dollars in clean up. Every single square inch of soil on that property would need to be replaced. It’s all toxic.

Same reason you see cell phone stores in old gas stations.

    That’s vinyl chief.

100x better than the toilet paper thin Toyota “leather”.

    Looks good.

Yup I put them on my 100 series as well. Some ebay company but fit was awesome and the vinyl was decent quality... Yeah Toyota's leather left room for improvement

Did you know they only use male cows, because females can have stretch marks in the leather

I would prefer Vinyl over Bonded or Genuine Leather. Despite the name, Genuine is the second worst grade of Leather. What they do is they take leather scraps, make it into a pulp, and laminate it into “leather” sheets.

This is what cheap sofas and cheap office chairs use. And that’s why the peel off in sheets after only a few months.
