07tacoark - I'd there anything you know of south of bossier/shreveport? I know that's a pretty big drive from Hammond, it'd be even further for new Orleans or Houma folks. I'm hoping there's a good spot somewhere around Alexandria. Just never camped out that way so I don't know.

By the way, the boat and fishing sounds pretty damn fun. I bought a new rod&reel at Easter and still haven't gotten to use it.

Yeah, I know there is a place in Alexandria, we've been really busy at work with the new semester starting. As soon as I get another break, I'll start searching it.

well, look up google maps on an aerial view and see what all lakes come up between here & there. maybe there's somethin that would come up we could do 1/2 way.

i just know there are a crap load of places within a 30-40mile radius of here that are awesome

    Looking up La State Parks:

http://www.crt.state.la.us/parks/ichicot.aspx - Close to being central I guess?

http://www.crt.state.la.us/parks/intoledo.aspx - We could probably make this a joint Tx/La meet as far West as it is!

http://www.crt.state.la.us/parks/ireservoir.aspx - East of Monroe, not far from Miss.

Any others are way North or South. Though if yall want to head to Tickfaw State Park, I can probably save gas in the Taco and ride my bike

As 07tacoark said earlier, there's more places farther north. Quite a few state parks up there. Any other ideas??

Well, I have more information to find, but I found this place (I think Red River Park) that you can wheel on all these trails, stop off and setup camp, and wheel the rest of the next day until it's time to head home. It was decently cheap and seemed very fun. I also recall it being right outside of Alexandria.

I found this place today, some forest in Central Louisiana. http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/kisatchie/

It's huge. It crosses about 7 parishes. Lots of trails too, one or two in each Ranger District. There is information about camping out there too.

well, there's always my family's private land. we got over 400+ acres & several fishin holes. :D it has to be before huntin season though bc i have an asshole that is my mom's brother (i dont claim the fucker to be any relation as an uncle) that thinks all the game have his name tattooed on their asses, so that would not be pretty if i had to go to jail for beatin his ass for fuckin w/ any of us over stupid shit

id rather go by myself anyways instead of go with someone that dont enjoy it

one of kisatchie's parks is really close to where im from in south arkansas. there's corney creek thats pretty good to fish on (minus the huge gator i saw 2 weekends ago when i went fishin there) and right now its covered with moss

this is the place ive been many of times.. we rode 4 wheelers and dirt bikes there for years but you dont need to have that to go camping there.. you just drive down the road till you see a place you like a set up.. 3 dollars a day..

    http://camp-livingston.winnfreenet.com/

heres another place ive been several times for the same thing.. the only difference is that camp claiborne has a designated camping are where everyone has to be unlike camp livingston where you just camp where ever you want.. its really nice..

Yeah, if you look at the link I sent about 3 or 4 posts ago, you'll see that very information. It's a huge site so it's pretty elaborate.

It definitely sounds like that would be a good place to go. And it's not that far either.
