I went to do some maintenance this morning on my 07 Tacoma and did the oil change. Then when I went to go change the front diff fluid I couldn’t get the drain plug out! Wasted a few hours trying to let some penetrating oil in there to work it’s deal and it still didn’t work! At least I had other projects going on while waiting but still doesn’t make it any better. On top of the penetrating oil I used multiple sized ratchets I even use my little Dewalt impact gun to no avail even tried to get my neighbor to try his luck with it and it was a no go.

I’ll try again next weekend with a breaker bar and some more penetrating oil a few days ahead of time.

Dig the crap out of the recess with a pick, so the Allen fits all the way in

The Allen fits just fine. It’s just not budging

If I still can’t do it with a breaker bar and some more penetrating oil I might borrow an impact gun from work that has more kick then my little dewalt one

All you will do is round out the plug.
    Penetrating oil does nothing.
Not hard to remove per say but you need to know how..
Are you doing this on a lift or ground?

That sucks. I hate days like that. Maybe it will loosen up overnight with the penetrating oil on it. Sometimes it takes awhile for that to fully work. Mean while, Miller Time for you.

I’m doing it on the ground and penetrating oil has work before on the transfer case and the rear Diff....

If that doesn't get it, then use Marvel Mystery Oil. It is penetrating oil on steroids.

    Naaaaa
    You got lucky.
Just be smart enough not to round out the plug.
Makes it so much harder to get out..

Then let it soak overnight. That is what I always use to deal with exhaust bolts. Old exhaust bolts an cat bolts,

Most important of all (this is for everybody, not just the OP), make sure you can get the fill plug out before removing the drain plug.

One trick my dad always taught me in this situation was to try to just go a wee but tighter on the bolt after you put the penetrating oil on it. And I mean a wee bit. If it will go a wee bit tighter then go back the wee bit, and then back again to the wee bit tighter and then back again to the wee bit loose point where you started. This will let the oil get in the threads.

If your interested some are using this instead of the allen plug.
