ok. I know there’s a million of these posts but I’m about to start piecing this together. How
5100s with 887 springs and the spacer for lean.
    Hs 3 spring aal
Jba UCAs (do I need the high caster version?)
    Ecgs bushing
    Venomrex 17x9 -12 offset
    275/70/17 of some type

Do u guys see any potential problems with this setup? I’d really like to avoid the cmc if possible.

From what I have heard the spring rate of 887’s isn’t high enough for 3rd gens. Might need to use 886’s instead.

I don’t know why but Marie from hs recommends not using 886 springs with the 5100s.

The clips that hold the spring seat up is why. Bilstein uses the same size clip on the 6112’s with 650# springs so I don’t see why it is still a thing for 5100’s.

Is your heart set on bilstein? If you search I’m sure you will find plenty of folks running 886’s on 5100’s have you looked at Dobinsons? They have higher spring rates then OME.

I just installed a very similar set up yesterday. 887s, 5100s, icon AAL. I dig it. No issues. You may or may not need UCA for alignment.

I’m on stocks for now. I’m going to get it aligned and see how it goes. I have some LR UCAs kicking around from my last truck. If I need them I’ll rebuild them and install but I’m hoping not to. And yeah I dig the stance. 1/2” rake back to front

I also went 5100, 887, Icon AAL, Icon UCA, Spacer Front/Driver.

Mine seems pretty level. Rear Driver Side seems slightly lower than Passenger Side.

17x9-12 is going to rub at the cab mounts, even with 275s.

For the 887s and 5100s, I ran those for over a year w/o issue. Their spring rate is 590 lbs/in, whereas stock is around 680 or 690lbs/in. So yes the 887s,888s and 885s are less than stock. The results, they compress easier than stock, which for me made them feel quite nice when matched to 5100s. The only stiffness I had was with the deaver AAL in the rear. I ended up with ~2.25" of lift up front, that after a year was still at 2.25".
The majority of 3rd gens not using a coil over set up are using either 887s or 888s.

for Dobinsons, according to their site they have a 586lb and a 730lb spring for the fronts, one being less than the 887s and the other, recommended for a steel bumper, is 60lbs/in stiffer than the 886 and 40lbs/in stiffer than stock.

Running 886s or a 730lb spring that is already ~1" taller than stock will result in a lift that is greater than recommended if you don't have an weight up front. 5100s have a higher perch height if I remember correctly, typically giving a 1/4" or 1/2" greater lift than the OME shocks. The 886 on a 5100 w/o weight will likely end up right around 3" of lift. At that point your CV angles will be pretty bad. Also, you will be closer to full droop constantly, which can result in maxing the droop over speed bumps and pot holes, giving that lovely clunk people complain about.

    887s+5100s, Deaver AAL

I have a similar set up- 887s with 5100s on lowest notch.
For me, I wouldnt want any stiffer of a spring rate. I found the front is just enough compliant and an improvement over OE.

I needed ECGS. I had the typical noise.
My control arms are stock and seem to be dialed in fine. But I would get them if your wallet can afford - I will eventually.

For the rear- I read the add a leave seemed to stiffen the ride more than people liked, so I opted for a 1 inch rear block in stock shocks. No shims or driveline vibrations and ride is the same. Just about level- maybe 1/2" nose high but alot easier to look at in meantime until I save for a full leaf pack, shocks and brake lines I'm ok with this route.
Edit . And I dont see a CMC in your future but mud flaps will be tricky. I run 265/70/17 and have had 2 rip off in winter when I make hard turns and just a bit of snow build up on the flaps

    I'll post pics later

I don’t mind doing the cmc, I just can’t weld. What offset should I be looking at? More like a 17x8 with 0 offset?

Solid setup may have to trim the fender liner possibly if it rubs.

I have a wheelers progressive AAL in the rear
    SPC UCAs
265/70/17 tires with the TR4 Pro "SEMA" wheels with a +4mm offset
    ECGS bushing also installed.

Truck dives like a dream, never rubbed even when stock height.

U think the cmc will be necessary with the venomrex wheels?

I can confirm there is no rub with 275/70/17. I only have 1” of lift also with a -12mm offset wheel.

I’m not sure maybe at full lock in reverse but I doubt it. I’m not to knowledgeable on wheel specs.
