Had a 16 DCSB OR and traded in for a Civic as my commute more than doubled and I just didn't want to do that to the truck and frankly with the fuel money.

We are renovating a house and moving about 35 minutes closer so I wanted my truck back. Cars are fun on the open road but I was reminded how much I missed my Tacoma every weekend. First time I saw Voodoo Blue rolling down the road I knew I had to have it eventually, so I went straight for the Pro this time. I will say although the changes between 16 and 19 are not life changing, Toyota has definitely made this truck and transmission talk to each other a bit better. While the gear hunting is still present, I no longer feel as though I need to floor the damn thing to get power, it feels more decisive on drop-downs. I used to turn on ECT before I would make a pass etc. but I don't have that feeling with this 19.

I love mine so far. Got a OR DCSB MT6. Catch myself looking back at it everytime I park my car.. :D

ALSO, have hit a few trails so far and put myself in positions where I would've been stuck for days deep in the woods. Thankfully my winch saved me the last time, but all in all, you have to put this thing into some serious shit before you need to get pulled out.

I have a 3" lift and BFG K02s, which might not be a totally good comparison to a stock truck though...:hattip:

I've found if I just keep my headlights on the "on" position, they turn off when I get out of the truck. Not an elegant solution as it's really more auto "off" than auto "on" lol.

Love my 2019, I even genuinely like the power train. The truck is super maneuverable and feels superbly built. I came from an F150 and to state the obvious the back seat is MUCH smaller. This may matter to some with car seats etc, but for me at the end of the day for the once or twice a week I have people in the back seat it really doesn’t matter to me if they have 1” or 6” between their knees and the back of the front seats.

I also love the adaptive cruise control, It makes road trips a breeze.

I've owned several trucks in my life, a 2014 Tacoma TRD Sport, 2014 Ram 1500, 2010 Ram 1500, 2007 Silverado...the power train on the tacoma while I would *like* a bit more grunt is still pretty driveable. I bought my truck without even test driving it (picked it up about 7 hours away!) and was a bit concerned I'd hate it for being slow and piggish. I honestly don't feel it to be that great of an issue; the crappy stereo is more annoying than driving it lmfao.

The beaten to death transmissions shifting patterns. Has a hard miss (no lights) typically light load light throttle applications (feels like stumble/hesitation) etc

Stereo is an easy fix! I'm in the process of finding an Entune replacement with minimal side effects. You can get a nice digital multimedia receiver with idatalink module and install parts from Crutchfield for around $500-600 (Pioneer DMH-1500NEX). Best I can tell you only thing we lose is the stock microphone use so you have to find somewhere to mount the aftermarket.

Also note that particular receiver doesn't play CD's if that's important, but they have some that do. Then if you are still searching for sound, speakers are really affordable and easy to install. I put a couple pairs of Kickers in my old Tacoma that were like $200 out the door for all 4 and sounded better than any "premium" audio options I've ever heard.

I’ve owned my 2019 OR for a week or so now traded my 17 sport in. The biggest difference is I don’t have to floor it on the freeway anymore so much. I also put 65k on my 17 sport, that’s why I traded it in.

I purchased an ’09 SR5, AC cab, Timberland Mica, MT, 4cly, 4x2 brand new in March of ’09. It’s been a stellar truck for it’s dedicated purpose, towing a 2000lb pop-up my Lovely Spouse used for camping. I added aftermarket wheels and Firestone airbags to level the load. At 10 years old it only has just shy of 50K miles.

We just delivery of our ’19 TRD Pro, Voodoo Blue, MT truck in early June, after discussing this truck with the sales manager in October ’18. Several reasons for the new truck, at the time one of the prerequisites was size, a full size truck will not fit in my garage at the house. The Pro will be primarily a tow vehicle during the summer for the Wife’s new 21ft Winnebago trailer about 4000lbs.

I can’t stand auto transmissions, all of my vehicles are manuals. The Taco might be the last mid-sized pickup you can purchase with a manual, I don’t expect the manual to survive the coming redesign. Another reason for the Pro was based purely on aesthetics, my Wife loved the Voodoo Blue which won out over the previous years Cavalry Blue now available in the OR package. She always gets her choice of color when I can make it happen.

I went from a base truck in ’09 to a top trim level ’19, the differences are striking, the ’19 may as well be a spaceship. The ride of the ’19 is sublime, the airbags don’t help the ‘09s ride quality when it’s empty. Towing wise the ’19 lives up the 6400lb rating, although the Winnebago is about as much as I care to safely tow, 65mph in 5th gear is the realistic limit for 8.5mpg. I was hoping for 10mpg.

The 3.5 V6 certainly isn’t a V8, to make the power you have to work the powerband, no great surprises there. I’m waiting delivery for OVtune not only for the power but the sluggish gas pedal, it seems to need a lot of travel/time delay before the electrons decide it’s time to go quickly. Aside from that glaring deficiency, it’s been a wonderful truck so far, just like the ’09 before it.

My step-son purchased a ’16 TRDOR, DC, 6AT, LB, white (christened Moby Dick) and his chief complaint, like others here is the tranny’s sometimes lethargic nature. The Pro has a few more safety trinkets to learn/disable otherwise the OR is another fantastic gen 3 truck.

I’ve got just over 1,000 miles on my 2019 SR5 and hate it more and more every time I drive it. Horrible driveline vibrations, a gutless feeling engine and a transmission that can never figure out what gear to be in are wearing out their welcome. I did a lease with no money down so I feel like my options are limited. Seems to be nowhere near the truck my second gen was.

You can only get the Manual in the Tacoma, Frontier, and the new Gladiator.

2019 TRD OR with 1k miles on it now. I like everything about it but the horrible seating position / steering wheel not being able to telescope enough.

I purchased a 2019 Off Road a couple months ago. This is my first truck and my daily driver is a BMW. I never expected it to drive like the BMW and have no issues with the transmission.

When I drive it I drive it like a truck. I roll down the window and enjoy the ride without the need for speed.

Heck my wife has even said “boy you sure drive a lot slower when driving the truck.”

I picked up my 2019 TRD OR last week and have 500 miles on it now. I like it a lot compared to my 07 Grand Cherokee HEMI, especially the gas mileage difference. I'm getting 23 mpg right now and thats with 95% highway driving and 5% city driving. I commute 72 miles round trip for work so I rack up miles pretty quickly. The biggest con I have found so far are the transmission jumping (although it isn't as bad as others say). This is my 4th Tacoma and I love it just like my previous 3.

This is my first Tacoma - a 2019 OR automatic - and it has, so far, been an excellent vehicle for me.

I've only ever had three vehicles; started with an '05 Ford Escape and had it for nine years, then a '17 Dodge Challenger for two years, and now the Tacoma.

The Escape was a good, capable vehicle and I did nothing to it outside of general maintenance; racked up about 110,000 miles in the time I had it.

Then came the Challenger, something I wanted for fun, and it was my first experience modifying a daily vehicle; tint, wheels, calipers, and a stainless steel exhaust.

With the Tacoma, I wanted a capable, durable, utility-based vehicle that can help me with projects, handle WI winters, and take me places when the pavement ends (places beyond where Subarus and the like can go). Outside of something catastrophic, I never intend on selling the truck, so I'm banking on Toyota's reputation for long-term reliability with regular maintenance. That and, outside of Jeeps, it is a platform that has high customization associated with it, as is apparent on this forum.

It's not perfect - I'd much rather not have the TSS (the sensor and camera will probably be the first things to fail) and out of place infotainment - but it's been a great fit for me overall.
