I think I heard that 3rdgen stock suspension will bolt up to a 1st gen and possibly give an inch or so of lift. Can anyone confirm?

    4 run, 2 don't
    Nope.

Plus 1st gens are way too light to bother with suspension that's valved for a bigger/heavier truck.

We didn't even talk about mounting points, suspension travel, etc.

This question probably gets asked every few days, I even asked the same question myself.

No, they’re completely different. Even if you got it to fit, it would ride like crap because the third gen is a significantly bigger and heavier truck. 2nd and 3rd Gens have a lot of inter-compatible parts, but not 1st Gens. Our trucks are closer to the Toyota Pickup than the 2nd or 3rd gen.

Springs are permissible. It’s just the valving of the shock that wouldn’t be right at all.

2nd and 3rd gens can share suspension setups. Won't work on 1st gens the mounting is different

I think the reason why this is such a common question is because so many 3rd Gens ditch their stock suspension as soon as they get the truck. They’re everywhere on Craigslist.
