It was a learning curve and an experience:thumbsup:

It ate extremely well. Very pleased. Photo wise... Gonna need some work. But I'll see what I can do. Lots of curve balls and I really enjoyed the process.

    Signing off for now.

    Have a good night y'all:fistbump:

Coulda been a lot worse tho

Everybody in my local circle seems to be ok and accounted for except nobody’s heard from my buddy that lives downstream. Fingers crossed he made it to high ground

    He should be
Can’t check on him because the roads out and he doesn’t have a cell phone
The pic I posted is of my little creek ( it dries up sometimes in the summer lol)
He lives down on the main stem, I’d be very surprised if his house is still there

He’s been around long enough tho to have recognized the signs and headed uphill

What part of WV you in? I grew up near Charleston, we had a small little creek in front of the house, and a couple times a year it would come out of the mountains like crazy. Several times it would move huge rocks down it to the point it sounded like thunder. Not exaggerating, I've seen it easily 15 feet deep or so when it was normally either dry in the summer or barely running at other times. It fed into a river, that fed into a bigger river, 2-3 times a year we would be flooded in or out. Thankfully we never had any in the house or really much damage.

    Hope all is well

We’re in Harman kinda between Elkins and Canaan Valley
We had a rain event last Monday that made the thunderous rock roll like you described...the first time it’s done that since we moved here 12 years ago.
The creek dropped and then last night I got woken up by a flash flood warning on my phone. I saw the creek level and a weather forecast then we got the hell out lol. There’s a lot of damage upstream and down

It's crazy what water can do. Seems WV has had some weird weather the last few years. Last week there was a tornado less than 10 mins from where I lived.

Nothing like having to babysit an electric smoker :angrygirl: I should just get out the charcoal! My finger is getting sore resetting time and temp every 5 minutes

I was raised in Wayne County up a holler and I remember having to pack up and go a few times due to flooding. Fortunately, we never had any major losses but not everyone was always so lucky.

Glad you’re all good, maybe minus a smoker.

16 hours in now. No crutch but spraying with apple cider vinegar every hour or so. It's hanging around 170 now.
