My truck was damaged by some drunk women fighting, caught on dash cam

So some people here know me from the dash cam reviews I do and I love to give advice on which dash cams people should buy. I have been using thinkware cams for several years now. They offer advanced parking mode features I refuse to go without. some people think a cheap $40 ebay dash cam is enough but I really think cams with pre-buffered parking mode is very important and this incident is a good reason why. When the camera detects an impact, it will save 10 seconds before and 10 seconds after, unlike cheaper cams with half assed parking mode that will just start recording after the impact (which is why they call it pre-buffered parking mode).

I had taken a picture of my truck just a week prior and could see the damage was not there:

You can see the dent cracked the paint right below the topper above the 4.



So currently I do not know who that woman is, I was not at this bar, I just happened to be parked here that night. Coincidentally the white guy who breaks them up is an old friend of mine, and I had by chance ran into him few months ago at that bar and learned he was a bouncer there. I hadn't seen him in over 6 years so it was a strange coincidence I go into that bar once and run into him, then now he ends up in one of my dash cam videos.

Not getting my hopes up but working on trying to identify her. Probably won't ever but at least I have a chance with this footage.

But seriously, if you can afford it, get a GOOD dash cam. It can really help in certain incidents.

 

I'm sorry for your misfortune...that being said this is hilarious. It's like that scene from jackass when the midgets are fighting in the bar. Equally funny. Again, sucks about the dent. Hope it gets fixed.

youll be going through insurance for this one. atleast youre obviously not a fault.

 

i already made a claim, they said my rates wont go up because its an act of vandalism.

in the small chance I do identify her id just get refunded my deductible, my insurance would go after her for repair costs. but again not getting my hopes up.

considering I am into dash cams as a hobby I am just happy I captured the incident on cam.

 

That sucks. But are you sure, as I can't be that the paint is cracked? In one photo is looks cracked and in another it looks scratched. If it' just scratched it will be as lot better for you in the long run. That dent is soft so it will come out probably pretty easy. but if the paint is cracked you have to go to bare steel to fix it . Ugg . I am old I recall when women had a lot more self esteem and dignity that they do now.

People suck. I would never park infront of a bar myself.... people tend to smoke and joke and lean on cars to shoot shit with friends..

yea when i parked there I was worried too, but there wasn't anywhere else to park, and I was staying at my friends that weekend from out of town. He lived in the apartment above the bar.

It sucks, but honestly $500 deductible for me is not the end of the world, just a big annoying inconvenience. If anything it's sort of fun going all detectivey on my own footage haha.

I am assuming and hoping they can just take the dent out and repaint it, because if they replace it, I have to also get it recut to fit the pelfreybilt bumper again.

Get clear fingernail polish on that ASAP to seal it... Stop moisture from getting to steel .....

 

Dang John that sucks. I hate the disregard this world seems to have for other peoples property... Is that the A129? Pretty cool they have dual channel cameras, I wasn't even aware of this.

 

Probably pop out what they can, fill it, and paint it. Hopefully you send it to a good shop. I had a drunk guy Stove in my tailgate backing up. He left a note and paid cash. Then 3 weeks later. A dumpster flew into the side of the truck during a wind storm. The pain never matched right. Traded my 16 for a 19. Toyota put Certified used even though the doors didnt perfectly match..

but you can drink your own beer out of your own cooler that's in the back of your truck, as long as the bar doesn't catch on.
