Has anyone else noticed these wheels scratch over nothing? I have had them rotated twice and have new scratches every time. I plan on doing it myself from here on out since people can’t figure how how not to hit them. Obviously the black shows everything, but this is not my first set of matte rims on a car (had them on my cobra) and my last ones would at least take a lug touching them without leaving a mark.

Is there any other way to get the marks off other than having the wheel repaired? I’m not crazy enough to have this touched up, but it is annoying

They are pretty prone to scratching. It is very unfortunate that when you outsource a service as seemingly simple as rotating tires, the person doing it often times doesn’t give a crap and scratches with the wrench and doesn’t torque to spec. I know people say, then do it yourself. But for some of us with crazy schedules, no access to a garage/goodjack etc, paying someone is often the most logical route.

Exactly my problem. I am currently up at 4am to go to bed at 10pm when I am done prepping for the next day after work (police academy). I have two day off that I study, so me getting out to the truck is near impossible, but after yesterday, I’m Probably buying a jack next time. They look fine from 5 feet away, but it is frustrating for sure

If the dealer did it, make them repair it. I had my dealer fix the stock wheels on our Rav4. If I pay for a service and my wheels were not scratched when I came in, I want my wheels not scratched when I leave. I didn't care if they were stock Rav4 wheels, I wanted them fixed. They did it with no problem, even offerd me a loaner car for the day because the wheels had to cure.
The basic service guys don't take pride in their work and are just there for a check, but anytime there are marks on my wheels or heaven forbid my paint, I will have the dealer fix it on their dime.

Just need to make sure you document prior to going in. Is worth it though

I walk around with the service writer before handing over the keys, and we walk around it again before I accept the keys when the work is complete.
Also, I will only deal with two of the 5 different service writers there.

    Uhh no...

I had one tech at a shop I have used for years scratch a set of my wheels. The manager promptly bought me a new set.

I have had ZERO other problems with them.

I do own a set of five wheels and one obviously sits in the stock spare spot. One of my wheels did get chipped but thats it. But thats due to use not neglect by a tire tech.

Sounds like you need to have a stern conversation with the shop manager. These wheels do not harm easily.

It was discount tire, so I doubt i’m going to get them fixed. Like I said, I had a set of matte black wheels on my cobra and dropped/tapped lugs against them all the time with no issues. It feels like if you look at these wrong when rotating them you have new scuffs.

Honestly, i’ll just rotate them myself from here on out and repair them when the truck is paid off.

Love these wheels, but probably won’t but matte Toyota wheels again
