Hey fellas, wondering if anyone out there has this clunk on their truck. Process: Start the truck, let it warm up a bit; if already warm, let it run until it stops the high idle and its back at normal idle. Put it into reverse and i hear the clunk, once i hear the clunk i back off the brake to start moving, if i put it into reverse and immediately let off the brake it jerks back. 2017 Offroad 4x4 DC. Here's a crude video of it: https://youtu.be/tkuVHIzQXt0

Did an oil change yesterday and decided to crawl around looking for grease fittings on the drive shaft but i guess it doesn't have any, least not this one.

Quick question for you, do you use the parking brake or do you just park your truck in the “P” position? I do get off clunks in mine time to time but with all the interesting aspects of this tranny and many owners reporting the same I’ve grown to believe it’s normal.

At about 200 miles from new, I noticed my transmission clunking from P to R and from R to D.
I added 1 quart of transmission fluid and the clunking was gone.

A fluid level check at the proper temperature was performed days later while I drained about 4 ounces from the overflow, so it was about 28 ounces low.

If you lift your foot off of the brake pedal before shifting, or shift while still moving slightly, that of course can also cause clunking. I’ve done that a few times while in a hurry.

Just in park. Ground is pretty much flat.

Just a thought, but it may help using the parking brake. Mine will make a loud clunk if I let the weight rest on the pawl of the transmission and shift out of it.
