Lifted + sliders = hitting your head on your way in. Didn’t happen when I was stock. When snow is deep or mud is bad I have to climb in to put the baby in. #firstworldproblems

Just bought a 4 door tacoma.. traded my access cab.. there is space.. it is not a full size or a suv but this is the truck that I want. So I’m good and very happy with it.

UppaBaby Vista system with an extra base. Go big or go home. One of the best solutions out there.

Every vehicle is a compromise. Toyota left some offroad ability with the Tacoma but that compromise means that is is not as good a family hauler as a Sienna.
They also compromised on power and torque for efficiency.

Came from having two kids, one 9 year old and the other 1. Our only vehicle at the time and until last June was a MKIV Jetta. We did 2400 KM road trips in it, packed to the nines with loaded roof racks, even had both miniature weiners in the back for one of them. Bumping up to the Tacoma last year was a huge, huge step up in the space game. My Taco has a topper on as well, which was a "need" while I was looking. I'm assuming space is relevant to what you have to take as much gear and you feel you need with you. Kids fit, anywhere. I still have the Jetta, but we have acquired more "stuff" for camping and such so our road trip this year will be in the Tacoma.

I can totally understand it. My 2yr old son blast my seat all the time, guess he’s just letting me know he’s there .

I have a 3 and 5 year old, both grew up in a Tacoma DCSB. All versions of car seats used over the years, never a problem. Everyone walked away from a head on crash a couple years ago so got another Tacoma. At times a canopy would be nice...

In order to get a rear facing carseat in a Tacoma it needs to be in the center. Maybe your arms are long enough you can reach in that far. But not everyone can.

If I had 60k to spend on a full size big truck, I would have. But we didnt. I Love my Tacoma. I love how it looks, the safety and everything about it. I am 6'1 my wife is 5'2. And we have an infant using the britax r-something. We drove a 10 hour road trip packed full with a tonnue cover and we were very comfortable. When baby two comes next year. I most likely will be upgrading to a bigger truck. Mostly because I am very tall and no one can sit behind me let alone another car seat. If you are going to have more kids and you are tall, go bigger. If you dont mind playing tetris onto where to store/place things or family members then just get the double cab. It's a great truck. I just wish it was bigger on the inside.

Families and Tacomas, you guys are making the decision somewhat raiser. As for those road trips whether long it short, how's the power of the tacoma? Did it have the torque to get it moving or did it always feel like it was struggling? Specifically say the two adults in the front, kid in the back. . . Some stuff like stroller in the bed.

When I have kids the Tacoma will be traded for an F150.

The Tacoma is just too small.

The Tacoma feels like a pig at speeds over 70mph. It will run at higher rpms in the wind and fuel economy blows (I consistently get 16 mpgs on road trips)

The Tacoma is a nice blend between truck and commuter SUV for me now, but up until this vehicle I have always driven full size trucks. This feels like a pig in comparison on road trips. I really wish it was geared better to handle speeds more efficiently.

Size wise its just not enough for kids. So I’ll be looking forward to an upgrade with kids.

I have a 1 yo kid and when I test drive the new Silverado I was blown... HUGE... drove it, tons of power, not much stopping power.. i have driven full size trucks and in my opinion the Tacoma is a nimble truck... I drive it like a car and more now that I have a 6mt... I do not like the way full size pickup trucks drives... yes, it is smaller, it might not be the fastest truck, but my kids rear facing seat fits (tight) behind me and everytime I fire her up and get going with my right hand on the shifter I smile...

So it is up to you op... in my case I am the one paying for the truck so I am going to get what I want, what is fun and also be practical.. Tacoma winner for me...

It is fine, we had three forward facers this weekend. Tight, but was done and all buckled safely. The Tacoma has been a awesome family vehicle for us; plenty of room, very safe, relibale, plenty of bed space for stuff (bikes, toys, etc...). I recommend it

The Tacoma just isn’t a good vehicle for a family....husband and wife yes, infant kids, maybe, but it’s gonna be cramped. Trade for a full size.

My Tacoma has been great for my family. Easy fit wifey, kiddo (6 yo pint sized dictator), and doggo. This truck honestly fits our needs and would recommend it for a family, okay not a family of 6, but my little family.
