Just don't go with a TRD Sport or OR and I think it would be okay. If it just said TRD or something I don't see anything wrong with that.

This is a funny thread. What is TRD anyways? Toyota Racing Developing. Toyota sells trucks with a TRD package. Does that mean if I add TRD parts my truck isn’t TRD accessorized? So, if I put a TRD supercharger and TRD exhaust, would that qualify me to be part of the TRD club?

I think Scions have TRD packages as well. Can TRD be an attitude or part accessory or a club or a team? If he wants to be part of the club…. I say go for it. I believe it’s just as much an attitude as it is an accessory or upgrade. How many people have you called gay that werent really gay? Same rule sorta applies here…Until you lift the hood, you are'nt really sure. Call it TRD and let it be!

I don't know if "gay" is the right term, seems pretty "ricey" though. I don't see how its any different from all the guys with stickers and emblems from other cars, like the SiR's and the fake Sti's. By all means make your truck unique, but to throw stickers on it to make it look like a higher trim package is just sad. In some cases its even worse than the ricer guys. At least the Civic SiR wasn't sold in this country, you could have bought a TRD package here if you spent the money.

But idk, if you could get a package deal with the stickers and a fake Rolex maybe. Oh, and some streetcorner Gucci loafers to drive in....yeah, that'd be sweet....

It's kinda like putting Cobra badges on your V6 mustang. It might look cool to those who don't know, but it's not going to change what it really is. Have fun explaining it to someone who knows what it is supposed to mean.

It's called conforming nonconformists...tattoos are a great example. Harley riders with al the leather gear is another...
    Incorrect...

    Tough Sonofa Bitch :D

    :coffee spew: lol lol lol
    I agree.

As posted...someone may have a truck loaded with TRD parts...

All this is moot in my case...I have a SR5...that may not be a TRD, but is a TSB :D

And, this is funny (to me anyway)...when I started looking at Tacoma's...one day cruising the lot, my wife saw the trucks with the TRD stickers and said "you're not getting one of then TURD trucks are you?" lol lol

No...but it makes you real popular in Key West.

No it does not... But you could build 1000 bridges in your life and suck 1 cock and you'll still die being known as a cocksucker not a bridge builder.

It really doesnt matter man. No ones opinion matters but your own. If you wanna paint it pink and write TACO down the side, its all personal preference.

I took off my "real" TRD stickers cause I thought they looked cheesy, the custom ones sock monkey makes are pretty cool. The stock ones IMO look pretty cheesy, if I ever put some back on on it will be some of socks & probably just black & gray.

How is it possible for people to get duped into buying a truck they THINK is a TRD Off Road OR Sport? You deserved to get duped if you didn't do your homework first.

It's not an Off Road if it doesn't have that "RR Diff Lock" button

It's not a Sport if it doesn't have body color bumpers and grille and fake hood scoop. (This one is probably a little more easy to fake but if they put in that much work to have the body color additions AND the TRD Sport wheels then you didn't get duped quite as bad)

This might be an accurate point of view if the OP was talking about just putting a sticker on it that says "TRD" by itself. But as most of the guys on this thread took it, the OP is referring to the "TRD OFF ROAD" or "TRD SPORT" stickers which indicate the vehicle has a distinct set of features that make it one or the other.

The stickers are dumb anyway. The Off Road is the only one that needs stickers to tell people what it is. Without the stickers it's just an SR5 with different seats and an electronic locker. Those things don't really make you that cool, there are better things than the factory locker anyway.

The Sport doesn't even need stickers for you to tell what it is. The body color everything and shiny city slicker rims tell Tacoma guys all they need to know.

    You are mistaken.
They made 1st gen TRD's with the 2.7. The 4 cyl model did not have an option for a diff lock but it still has the suspension, tires, skid plate, etc. And is built on the 4x4 chassis.
Just because it doesn't have a push button lockin diff does not mean it cannot be a TRD off road model.
