Usually not quite as far out, but it's variable depending on what you get and how you install them. They're also generally higher up, as while they can be used as steps it's often harder to do. However, you'll probably still rub your leg on them unless you really step out away from the truck, and they won't do much to protect from road pebbles unless you have a top plate. Mudflaps will do far more if you took them off.

Does anyone know of someone who works with aluminum? Or anyone have any good ideas for mounting a Yakima roof top tent to round bars, Yakima sells round bar adapter but I don’t think it will fit around my bed rack and the Yakima tracks are way wider than other roof top tent tracks, they are 2.5” wide.

Anyone running Dakar’s and HH’s be aware of this issue. Easy fix though. Took me a couple months to figure out the inconsistent but extremely loud pang. B0E47E2D-2764-408B-9751-BDB99FA748CE.jpg4F1A4E30-B78E-4466-AF42-1F985876560F.jpg A86B9266-1ED0-4D34-9A36-7CC407A3D4B3.jpg

    Don’t know much, t
more on this - there are a couple avy’s that ran across the road. One has trees blocking the road proper, so folks are driving up around it. Someone should probably get out there with a chainsaw (don’t own one, now wish I did) and fix it before the bypass gets too torn up.

Chainsaw should be a part of everybody's trail gear around here. Trees fall all the time.

I have that at the top of my list for yard and trail. It's something you should learn to use correctly though too. I know most modern chainsaws come with safety precautions but a chain is dangerous for a lot of people

I wouldn't be opposed to a clean up run of Red Cone. I'd rent a chainsaw for it

    Proper precautions are followed.

This is the kind of thing you contact the ranger district to report, if you didn't do so. Too many people just post things like this on forums and social media and the FS doesn't know about until they happen to come across on a patrol or something and a lot of damage has already been done.

Better to report or just fix?
Seems like they'll take any excuse to close a trail nowadays. Not sure if it's a good idea to give them more :notsure:

Using a bypass is a good way to get a trail closed.
