I don't really want to remove mine to measure em. But on the 5400lb cruiser which carries most weight in the front they still sag in the rear as they age and they ride super soft. Lots of people have done the FZJ80 springs on runners, maybe ask them

So I got violently ill on the drive back from Alabama and finally feel good enough after two days back at work. Pulled the #ranchtruck up into the driveway after work and started cleaning all the possessions of the previous owner out. Then I helped my buddy bed swap his F-250 and it got dark. I have tomorrow off so a few things need to be determined before I really start working.

This j-shift manual transfer case I picked up is nice and clean and most likely far less miles than 300K+ like the one I'm running in my double cab. I almost want to bolt this one over to my truck assuming that the shifter handles can be swapped.

Once the #ranchtruck is able to go into 2hi with a new tcase I'll know if it's transmission is fully functional as well as some other things I can't judge right now being stuck in 4lo. If all is good the dreaded vehicle inspection begins. San Angelo, TX is a lot more thorough with those than where I grew up. I've seen multiple shops fail my roommate for a headache rack being in the way of the rear top brake light. My headache rack is attached to the flatbed. I also have a bunch of marker lights that aren't wired up on the flatbed that I'll need to fix. And the most expensive issue... the front bumper. I'll have pictures tomorrow but the truck ran into a hog and the front bumper was just removed. I can't complain about a running $400 4WD Tacoma though.

I paid $400 for this 1999 Toyota Tacoma SR5 4WD AC with a professionally built flatbed.

The guy that owned it just dunked it in water for a bit too long and killed the transfer case and front diff. Transmission and rear diff didn't take on water thankfully. The 5VZ in it is running with good compression.

Why did you use Raid on a spider?

Yeah, that's an OK deal. I picked up my 96 V6 5 Speed 4x4 for $500. Fully running and everything working. It passed Cali smog with flying colors at 330000. It's never been dunked in water. lol

it was the only thing we had under the sink, it actually said it was for ants specifically on the can, haha. The spider spray I have is in the shed outside

I've used it on them before, it gets the job done. It's all poison anyway, figure they just market it to specific insects to boost sales

Yeah mines got the R150F too lol. I'm pretty lucky a Toyota scraper convoy to South America didn't get to it before me.

hair spray and a lighter works well too, but I save that for the black widows outside. Don't want to burn the house down tbh

Are you sure the front diff and t-case are toast? How much was it driven after it was recovered? It could just me an electric or vacuum issue. You can't get into 2hi at all? Even if you manually slide the shift rail?

Huh, I didn't know that the roof panel could be replaced on our trucks...I though it was all one piece with the cab. I'm thinking I might go this route instead of trying to patch the holes when I remove the roof rack. Anyone ever swapped this before?

I can't think that replacing that roof panel would be easier than fixing a few holes.

I drained the transfer case and a bit of water came out then nothing. Stuck my finger in and came out with a ton of metal shards. The truck has a jshift case and the front diff makes a horrible grinding noise when moving. Haven't fully drained the front diff because I lost hope with the noises it makes. If I jack it up and spin the wheels I get no noise with the hubs set to free.

If it requires cutting and welding on like @Running Man said then yeah, I'll just fix the holes. Definitely don't want to mess around with chopping the roof off.
