Because someone else does it makes it ok? A flawed sense of logic that I can not understand. What about the other 10%? Roads I guess? Of course... I'd like to introduce to you a word used in the English language, accountability...

    a89aries,
You sound like the guys who wouldn't stay on the trails because others were not staying on the trails at Tellico OHV in WNC and then bitched like hell were the area was closed because of erosion.

I wonder if OP showed the video to the Stealership? So that they may have the pleasure of reproducing the problem. If you need a test driver, I can make it next weekend! :)

I was using the parking brake while stopped to idle the truck in neutral to help cool the trans. With a locker, the parking brake would do nothing other than heat up the brakes. I advised someone with a sport, with the mechanical rear lsd to pre -lead with the e brake. I was only using it when parked!..
And I did not attempt the same paths as the huge Nissan. Yo can see in the stuck pics, I was bumper on grass, not axle deep in the slop.

Again.... I have never broken anything while off roading.....I don`t consider tearing up soft grass to be hardcore. Heck it was not even bumpy! No climbing, no rocks, just soft mud with grass on top! FWIW - The above poster went home with a clean truck......

Hmmm. Again look at the photos, I was not stuck in the soup, grass at both ends.....

Ah that explains somewhat. The lesson here for others is to remember not to use parking brake when doing snow runs (especially below freezing) or doing mud runs through gunk. In both cases parking brake has potential to get stuck. If you must use it, then after releasing parking brake, somebody needs to check rear axle for ya. Or switch to 2wd and check if any wheels are draging.
BTW: That would not happen if truck had disc brakes on the back. :(

Still, honestly, this failure looks 100% user error (errors ?) None is Toyota fault.
    To recap.
    a. You went into the gunk with stock truck , on stock tires.
    b. You applied Too much skinny pedal. to the point of hitting rev limiter.
    c. You failed to check if your parking brake is disengaged.
    d. .... I am sure there is something more there....

But I should ask where was the trail leader to stop you from doing all that.

EDIT: There is responsibility for trail leader to make sure new guys don't wreck their stuff on the first run. And if new guy does not listen kick him out of the run.
