Did that a couple weeks ago. It was as fun as it sounds. I assume your birthday is today, or coming up soon?

What's the term for those clouds?
Wall clouds or something (?), precursors to tornadoes. Any tornadoes yesterday?

Yes... I learned that watching the weather last night, right before I lost power! They were cool looking.

My iPhone 7 Plus has taken about 3 dips with just a rubber case and screen protector. I have had life proof cases of 2 other iPhones and beat the shit out of them. One fell out of my pocket while riding a dirt bike down a asphalt drive way. It bounced for about 15 to 20 feet.

    I'd call them ominous looking.

I recall only a couple minor tornadoes around here in the last 20 years.
One formed in the valley here (Cumberland Valley, the northern extension of the Shenandoah), about 10 years ago...
...and slammed into the mountainside not far away.
I was an avid hunter for Ruffed Grouse back then and knew the spot well.
I went to have a look and could hardly believe what I saw.
A swathe a hundred feet wide and a quarter mile long, right through mature oak trees.
They were tossed around like matchsticks.

And that was just a piddly little tornado.

    Good Morning! :)

I'm really looking forward to the Fourth of July this year.
The other driver returns and I finally get some time off.
Gonna do the cookout thing and go see the fireworks.
We drive to a little municipal park and walk from there, forget trying to drive into town.
They have the fireworks at the High School's athletic fields.

Tell you what though, this time of year on really hot and humid nights, there's another show worth seeing.
Lightning bugs in corn fields right after sundown, millions of them.
The forecast all week is for temperatures in the 90s.

Most of the surviving family farms here are owned by Mennonites.
They're kinda like Amish, but they have tractors and black cars and refrigerators and modern stuff. :p
And they don't use much pesticides.
In the daytime, you see myriads of butterflies in their clover fields.

I know a lot of those farmers on a first name basis.
Volunteer to shoot some of their groundhogs and you'll make friends alright. ;)
And you'll be welcome to hunt their land come hunting season.

Anyway, have a good day all. :oldglory:
