So, the other day I wanted to shift from 2nd gear to 4th. Reved it up enough to skip third, but then I accidentally went to far over and tried to put in reverse while doing 40mph! It of course Grinded and I immediately realized what I had done (no more that a couple of seconds of grinding). I feel pretty stupid now, because I hurt my poor baby.

So story time for anyone who wants to share. What are embarrassing things, mistakes, etc. that you did to hurt you Tacoma's, and then felt bad about?

I'm surprised that it allowed you to try and engage reverse while the truck was in forward motion - typically there is a lock-out to prevent that from happening.

I recently drove several miles with the parking brake engaged. The brake light in the gauge cluster stays lit all the time because the switch doesn't quite make full contact with the parking brake handle when disengaged, so I'm used to seeing that light on all the time. It wasn't until I glanced down and saw that the handle was 3/4 of the way out until I realized I had been driving with the brake on. :smack:

I was surprised too. It's the 5 speed which may have something to do with it (completely stock also).
Oh no about the e-brake. Did you burn them enough to smell or any damage?

Nah, didn't burn them up and most of it was at low speed. I'm still going to pull the drums later this week and do an inspection (as well as fix that pesky switch/light issue).

Worked on a knock sensor wire last week that required removing most anti freeze from engine and when refilling, the phone rang, the engine overheated badly and now I can't find the leak.

I guess next is HC test.
