Getting a license to tow has nothing to do with the truck though :)
But, the HO is not the most capable, just the most awesome. (Most caple of being awesome?)

Yea I've said that since I bought my Tacoma. Just feels under geared to me. Especially on the highway.

What license are you guys talking about? You only need a CDL at >26,001. My truck and car hauler empty weight 9k. Are you saying I need a special license to pull 2 4 wheelers?

I would keep it until the warranty runs out.

I really loved my Silverados but the 2012 with the 5.3 left a sour taste in my mouth. I had a 2003 before that and that truck was bullet proof. I had so many issues with that 5.3l and after talking to some of the techs at GM realized there are major design flaws.

Not if your going by what the computer is telling you. Your being misled. Try figuring it by hand with a calculator.

I also belong to a Raptor forum besides TW. The 2nd generation Raptor with the 3.5L V6 450hp EcoBoost is also having it’s fair share of issues. Leaking plastic oil pans and failing engine cam phasers are probably the two biggest issues that I read about. Cam phaser replacement runs around $4k if not under the factory warranty.

See where your state falls. VT, and most states, say you need above a class B to pull more than 10,000 LBS

Edit - VT says you need a class A to tow over 10,000 Lbs

I had a 3.5 Ecoboost before my current taco. Same driver same route to work taco does slightly better (under a mpg and I had the dash readout calibrated in the 150). Oddly using the ac in the taco has really hit the mpgs where it didn't change much in my previous truck. Think the 150 had more power to spare so the ac didn't hurt it as much or maybe just a fluke. This is my first week using the ac consistantly.

You’re reading that wrong. Your vehicle aka a semi is over 26k and youre towing something over 10k.

You don’t need a special license unless you’re driving something like a semi or you’re over 26k gross

In all honesty, you're probably right. My truck can only pull 10,700, and I don't ever plan on maxing out the tow rating. It'll never be an issue for me. It appears this is a widely debated issue, and there's a lot of conflicting information out there.

For longevity, I will take natural aspiration over forced induction any day of the year. Just give me displacement.

I don't know how much stock I'd put in that link being completely accurate, the way that's written in NY you need a class A to pull a trailer over 10,000lbs, but in reality you can pull more than that as long as the Gross Combined Weight Rating is under 26,000lbs with just a class D license.

    https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...FjACegQIARAB&usg=AOvVaw2AG_ua8PW5mWGhbEUx4pb_

We pull 14k GVWR trailers all over the place with work and never had an issue with DOT or state police stops.

I'm pretty sure your all confusing GCWR with GVWR. From NY's .Gov website (it's a pdf download so won't link here, just use Google) it states you can have a GCWR of 26k. An F-150 weighs about 6k lbs. No way your towing 20k to require a special license. Not when it's rated to tow about 10k.

    For VT, https://dmv.vermont.gov/commercial-services/licenses
It says basically the same thing. Get a license if you are driving a tow truck and towing 10k or more (because your vehicle already has a GVWR high enough). Or a semi.... Not a consumer truck.

Not even a F-350. Which has a GVWR of 14k (well below the 26k cutoffs in the states I've researched).
Now it can tow up to like 32k lbs, if it doesn't have cargo in the truck, etc. And there are other laws requiring trailer brakes and such.

You won't need a special license unless your GCWR is 26k or more. Can have an empty F-350 towing an 18k trailer without hitting that requirement.

Hope this off topic discussion helps the OP choose his Rebel....

I think I have decided on a Custom Trail Boss with the 6.2L and 10spd.

Is the Custom Trail Boss available in 2019 with the 6.2? I thought that was coming in 2020? Only the LTZ had the 6.2L for 2019?

Not available. You will need a seat cushion if your not at least 6 feet tall with a custom.

I am considering jumping up to a full size truck as well from my 2006 Tacoma OR access 4x4, the mid size new trucks just don't have the guts for towing anymore. I am considering the new 2020 AT4 GMC with double cab 6.6 ft bed, the specs on the new diesel 3.0L are impressive overall, one neg was a synthetic belt to drive the oil pump but the camshafts and fuel deliver are chain driven, the block is aluminum with cast iron cylinder liners, the heads are aluminum, seems to be a well built inline 6 diesel. Overall. I like the inline 6 specs better than the new F150 3.0L specs.

All Toyota would have to do to keep me a Toyota fan is add 3.50 gearing to the Tundra Double cab 6.7 bed 4x4's. Sucks too much gas with the 4.30 gears. No need in that low gearing, thats what low 4x4 is for offroad. I realize the Tundra has the best overall reliablility figures and a proven performer.

I am waiting for the 2020 to hit the ground.

I am 6'3". Sat in one and fit just fine. I will definitely not miss the sunroof in the Tacoma.

I just left working at a Ford dealership. Pass on the F150 unless you can find one with a V8. Eco Junk is a better way to describe the Eco Boost V6. Im seeing $3000 - $4000 repairs on those things once the warranty is up. Seen alot of them getting engines replaced. rays phone April 2018 006.jpg Need proof see the picture I took of a new F150 getting the engine replaced. It is easier to take the body off the frame to do an engine swap. Stick with Toyota. Read Consumer Reports.
