    I buried my 2012 up closer to the dunes. I made a sharp turn and forgot to turn off traction control and it cut power. It’s easy if you don’t pay attention.

    Yeah it had atrac and traction control. If it sensed wheel spin it cut power. Dumb computers!

    My 85 doesn’t have a computer at all. Runs on 3 wires:thumbsup:

    I've never driven mine on sand. Should I cut off ATRAC (I have a TRD Off-road 4x4) and keep it in 4HI or 4LO?

    I just stuck mine in 4HI and did not have any trouble driving out past access 6. even in some deep loose sand that rubbed on the sliders. just a bit of throttle control, to maintain forward motion. and I did not air down, even though I was prepared to do so

    I'm thinking of going 4HI and airing down to 12 psi, but I've never gone that low with my 255/85r16 Cooper ST-MAXX tires.

    I see people airing down all the time, honestly, the tacomas with wider tires rarely have I seen them get stuck. I usually stay in 2 wheel mode, till the sand offers a challenge then if the 2 wheel mode looks like lost hope, 4hi, pulls the taco and everything with it out to safety. Now anything other than a Tacoma I would recommend airing down as low as possible, have a tow truck number handy and hope you can get yourself out.
