I have a 2017 TRD Pro...and love it. Runs great, plenty capable for me, great truck. In fact, I suspect a lot of the complaints on here are trolls. Transmission is a little jumpy, but welcome to the new world of emissions. I can live with it. But if I had to complain...the stereo. I went with the nav (JBL wasn't an option) and got the Entune system. Looks good, but really is a pretty big disappointment. Toyota upgraded the App that goes with it recently, which was an improvement. But Car Play looks far superior. How hard is it to just plug your iPhone/Android into the dash and that take over?!! Other thing that annoys me...Toyota got rid of the driver's side storage cubby in the bed. I actually use those things for lots of stuff. I know, not the biggest complaint in the world. But why take that little plastic storage space away? Don't give a squat about power seats. I'm 6'0" and I fit just fine. Wish I had a sunroof...but I doubt I'd ever open it. Wish it game with BFG's T/A KO2's, but the Wranglers are fine. I'm happy with it. Looks and runs great. I highly recommend any 4WD Tacoma to anyone.

I've had my 2019 Tacoma TRD OR AT now for about a month and really like the truck and happy with it. I've always been a Jeep guy but after spending 10 years in a 2009 Jeep Liberty grocery getter and putting up with all its "eccentricities" this truck is just what I needed. I did a lot of homework and test drives and this just seemed like a better fit plus there is a lot of customization available which is one of the things I always liked about my Jeeps but these days Jeeps are insanely overpriced especially the Gladiator.

I don't find the interior cramped or awkward and I am 6 feet tall. I did find the Colorado to be just off on the interior it was a bit more spacious but didn't seemed designed well in my opinion. I never got a chance to drive a Gladiator but the Rubicon I got to drive in seemed even less spacious than my Liberty. Nothing can really beat a full size truck for roominess but I just don't want another boat (had a full size GMC Sierra many years ago) to go off road in. I am still new to the Taco but I haven't noticed any major issues thus far. My only gripe is the Entune default apps but its not a show stopper.

Overall I look forward to making my truck my own and using it to do all those jobs I put off around the house because I didn't have vehicle capability as well as hitting the trails and doing some camping now and then.

This is a really good forum by the way. Lots of great ideas and information without a lot of snarky comments.

I bought my 2019 Off Road Double Cab Automatic in Jan...I have just hit 21K miles...I drive a lot! My main office is 60 miles from our farm (airport is 40-50 miles) - and I go to the office 6-7 days a week (if only for a couple of hours). I also travel to visit my daughter at school - about 2 hours away. I also do 'horse stuff' in different areas and I've found myself usually taking the Tacoma (we have several SUVs). I just like driving this truck - it is my first Tacoma and at my age/health it may be my last. My likes/dislikes:

    Dislikes:
    - Navigation...not as nice/user friendly as our newer model GMC SUVs...Stereo is fine (I usually listen to XM Talk/Business radio and a bit of old country).

    - Interior Lighting - too dark

    - Dark interior/dark dash (prefer lighter colors...even though on a horse farm it can get dirty)

    Likes:
    - Size of the truck - great on the highway and around town and especially around the farm - we have a river that boarders 2 sides of our farm and this truck fits easily on the trails - in fact we will run it behind/front/instead of our Kawasaki Mule to do kayaks, chainsaw work, take extra horse tack, etc. My truck got scratched up on day 2, and it continues to bruise, but to me this is a tool.

-MPG I am averaging 21-22 MPG on my trips to/from my office - the best of all our vehicles (though it is the smallest).

    - Adaptive Cruise Control - works great for me...most of my commute is on a 65 MPH 4 lane HWY that runs through hills/valleys and I might not see 30-50 cars on my commutes. I must say - I rarely am in heavy traffic - occasionally in Huntsville AL, Nashville/Knoxville TN but it works well there too.

    - Off Road capability - I must admit I do not do "off roading " in the sense many speak of, but I do appreciate the truck's abilities for me, driving down to our river, around the pasture, taking kayaks to other rivers, hauling tack to muddy fields, etc.

    - Truck seems solid in and out - not that my GMC products do not - but considering they cost MUCH more - the Tacoma presents itself as a far greater value.

    - Storage - I bought the glove box and center console organizer and I carry quite a few things in there, including 3 full size S & W/Colt revolver pistols! The storage behind/under the seats is TERRIFIC, I keep rain gear, rope, kayak straps, knife, NOCO battery pack, change of clothes, jacket and a few other things in stuff sacks... I did not get the stereo with the sub woofer so I'd have the extra room.

    - I must say this site has to be a win as well...I appreciate the vast knowledge and willingness to help with issues (that's how I learned about the glove box/center storage organizers).

    - Like factor - hard to quantify, but I just like this truck and am very happy I bought it - I consider it a GREAT value as it fits the needs for me.

Jeep freak, quit freakin out. Why don't you just sell your Tacoma now before the 2020 model comes out and you loose another bit of $ to depreciation. You could do OK trading in on a new Gladiator, couldn't you?

There are some things I loved about my new Taco and some I didn’t like. I fixed the ones I didn't like so now I love it.

Nice trucks that with a little tweaking to your specific needs can be great.

I just got out from a JK that I drove for the last 2 years. No way I'd go back to one, crappy dealerships, horrible quality parts, major transmission and engine work before 80k. I am so happy driving my 19 Tacoma everyday, smooth quiet and stays in my lane. The transmission is rather odd, but I just push ECT ever time I drive and it responds fine to me. The only other complaint is the seating position and low window. I don't think I'll ever own another jeep, I had a bunch of other issues, seat that creaked, leaking axle seals, leaking diff seals, radio that would sporadically making electrical noises and so on. Tacoma is not perfect by any means but it is night and day better than my JKU.

Once you go Jeep you never go back, or drink the kool aide and love to wrench. You can get rear seat risers that lift the back.

Wonder why a " Jeep freak " would buy a Tacoma in the first place? Is there someone named taco freak over on the Jeep forum posting how much they hate their Jeep? Not trying to be mean but kinda doesn't make sense. Dude should do what Dano said and get his Jeep that he seems to be so enamored with, it's not like it would be hard to off load the Tacoma. Hope it works out for him.

2019 Sport DCSB manual with PRO wheels and 265/75/16 Ko2. No lift. Other PRO goodies. Overall I give the truck a 8/10. My two gripes so far are power and mpg. My 2014 RAM hemi 5.7 got better mpg with 395hp. Otherwise I love the truck, happy with the manual trans and they layout of the truck. Reminds me of my JK. Simple, looks and feels rugged. Drives well too. Considering trading it in only for the simple fact that next year I know I will be upgrading to a bigger RV.

I bought my 2019 Tacoma DC 4x4 OR Long Bed on a whim when I decided to quit my job and spend a year driving around America w/ my two dogs. My 2015 Subaru wouldn’t tow most of the camper trailers I was considering. My brother and father both own Tundras. They both recommended them. So, I test drove a Tundra and a Tacoma. I preferred the Tacoma.

    Don’t Like:
I don’t like the fuel mileage (especially when towing) and feel like it should be more responsive given the torque. I don’t like the ECT, feel like it should always be on. It’s prolly a fuel standard thingy. I don’t like the adaptive safety system (it has problems on two lane curvy 50+mph roads, Mountains, road with high embankments, etc...). Compared to the 2015 Subaru Eye-Sight it blows.

    Meh:
There are too many single function switches. For example, while towing I often forget to turn the freaking ECT back on after refueling...usually takes me about 15 highway miles. But, I do like the simplicity of all the knobs and switches. And, I kinda like that there are a lot of them...makes it feel more like a cockpit. I don’t know.

    Do Like:
I like the way the Tacoma rides above all. Without weight in the back, I really like the way it handles...kinda sloppy, but I like it. I am continually impressed by a few things: the number of aftermarket mods and hacks, the tacomaworld forums (unlike any I have browsed), and the way the interior comes apart and goes together again so easily.

Owning this truck these last few months made me remember how much I enjoyed owning a truck.

I went back LOL. The koolaide was laced with cheap Chinese parts and FCA dealerships.
I never did the rear seat, I never found it necessary. Jeep makes a cool looking vehicle that has some awesome capabilities but you never know when it's going quit working. Junk quality, if I ever bought another one, it would be an older one for strictly fun weekend adventures.

2019 4 door V6 4wd SR. I love my clean, basic truck. I went thinking I was getting a 4cyl 2wd but it was the wrong color, so got upsold to this.

Still getting used to the automatic transmission. 2500 miles. I thought the auto tranny on my wife's CRV was eager to get to higher gears, but this one takes the cake. I think I'm just learning to accept that it is a "modern" transmission and to not worry about how busy it can be. Can't imagine how the 10 speeds must work. I would much prefer a stick in all my vehicles, but, alas, that's becoming less of an option (it's only available in certain Taco trims). The fit and finish seems nice (as I would expect), although certain road textures cause a bit of a buzz in my left ear that makes me unhappy. Good size, though I do find it uncomfortable on extended jaunts. I can push 24/25 mpg on the highway at moderate speeds (65-70mph).

I expect this truck will last as long as I want to keep it. That, in a nutshell, is why I bought it.
