Tires for 2015 Base 4x4 Tacoma

Hey guys! im new here, just bought my first tacoma two days ago, ill share a new buyer story at some point. For now i need some advice on if this tire will fit my stock setup with a 2.5 front 1 rear lift. Also, if this is not the largest tire i can fit on the truck, what is? i want the biggest tire i can get!

$181 Hankook DynaPro ATM RF10 Off-Road Tire - 265/75R16 114T

Hankook DynaPro ATM's on my stock steel wheels for a while...I ran them in 265-75-16 without any issues. I also added a 1/5" spacer to give it a little stance, and only had to do some minor front fender liner trimming. I've since switched wheels (and tires) but I keep the ATM's on my stock steelies for the winter now.

On the factory wheels you may have some rubbing issues due to the positive wheel offset. On most the trucks you’ll need 3” to get a what is nearly a 33” tire to fit. Then once you hit 3” you probably want to consider uca’s and wider wheel with at least a 0 offset. There are several threads here you’ll want to scroll thru on just this topic. Do your research before buy something and have to go down the rabbit hole of unexpected consequences you weren’t expecting.

I have a 2.5" front 1" rear leveling kit on the way, plus the 1.25" spacers. Is that enough to allow 285 on stock wheels which I believe I read have a +25 offset?

If I need to get new wheels also, what's the best basic alloy (0 to a -6 offset) I can get under $100 a pop? Kind of need to keep my wheels and tires budget under a grand. Thanks!

Also I know this question gets asked all the time, and I did search the forum extensively but didn't fid satisfactory answers, since I don't see a lot more setups like mine with the 2.7 and 4x4, on the base access cab.

 

Probably not gonna be able to keep wheels and tires under a grand. That will be a tough one.

youre probably right. If its real and would work, i found some Vision Wheel D models for 286 shipped to my house, full set of 4 with center caps... Theyre 16x8 139mm. Found Falken Wildpeaks for 561 shipped to my house too, in 265/75/16

I read a few pages, I'm not sure what you're wanting me to see? Do you think I made a poor choice on tires?

 

255/85R16's are the biggest tires you can fit without having to do a lot. It's a good choice since you have the stock wheels and they are also a 33" tires. Just keep in mind your gas mileage will suffer along with acceleration and braking.

 

Do you mean 265/75/R16? That is what I settled on

 

A 255/85 is a 33" tall tire, whereas a 265/75 is just shy of 32" (Usually 31.8"). The 265/75 is 0.4in wider though, which makes the difference with rubbing or not. I opted for the 265/75 because I wanted a wider tire. Tall and skinny looks weird on these trucks, but that's just my opinion.

I recently mounted a set of 265/75 Maxxis Buckshot II's to my 16x8 ProComp wheels, and I had to do a far amount of massaging (Pinch weld flattening, cab mount chop) to get them to not rub because of my spacers...but they look titties!

OK so what size spacers do you have, and what's your wheel offset? I'm running 0 offset with 1.5" spacers. From what I read here i thought the 265/75 was a perfectly good fit on stock suspension without trimming?
