Flood light will light everything with zero f#@%s to oncoming traffic. Not very good for a fog light if you are concerned about blinding others.

5100's, BDF grills and light bracket, big 3 upgrade, ATH bed braces, snugtop xtra vision shell, (bed, shell, hood, rock, front, rear, footwell, glove box, center console led lighting), MESO Gasshole, MESO dome and map lights, Flyeyez center console light, custom fuse panel, TRD CAI, toyota bed mat, 2013 black carpet, 2015 side mirrors, BedRug, AJT key fob, ultraguage, 8 cadillac horns acdf, pop n lock tailgate lock, energy suspension bushings, spicer greasable ujoints, Rigid lights everywhere, kenwood stereo, led tube taillights (red), 2018 T4R trail wheels, rokblok mud flaps, TRD skid plate, RCi gas tank skid plate
Those will not have a street legal cut off and will blind oncoming drivers. Save up a bit more and get the right pattern. Beats wasting money on something you can't use on the street, then paying a big ticket.

Those are definitely a no-go for street use. They will be exceptionally blinding even if not very bright, because it is a flood light. If you want a cheap selective yellow fog pod, you could take one of the cheap SAE fog pods from this thread, remove the face and lens and paint the lens with Duplicolor Metalcast paint as covered here below. However, note that most LEDs are high in color temp and really need an amber lens to get true yellow light. Even the LED pods you linked from Amazon are not going to produce yellow light with a yellow lens, it will be more green in color (blue + yellow = green), which is why Rigid and Baja use amber filters for yellow output.
    https://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/lights/light_color/light_color.html

Here is a quick google search result using the above technique with orange Metalcast orange for an amber lens.

I was originally going to use one of your pods you listed in op, I just saw these and my cheap senses started tingling. I wasn’t sure if flood was an acceptable beam pattern or not mainly. I guess I’ll wait :-(

Anyone have a picture of the rigid sae white with the amber cover compared to the sae selective yellows? Id like to see how the compare, i want the white but for the random few times im in fog/snow i can just throw the amber covers on. Also is there a huge difference in rain? Thanks

Ideally you want comparison light source photos to have both light sources in the same photo to get an accurate representative comparison. I don’t have that for Rigid amber covers vs selective yellow Rigid’s. I do have separate photos.

White Rigid vs w/ Amber cover

    Selective yellow Rigid

The selective yellow is a brighter yellow vs the amber covers which are a lower color temp closer to amber and not as bright.

Note that using the covers in snow will likely lead to icing over of the pods. The best pod for ice resistance is the selective yellow Rigid’s as they currently are the only fog pod where the lens will get warm.

    See the prototype comparison here.

Thanks for the reply. We dont get much snow here in South Carolina but with mother nature you never know. With just trying to compare the overall brightness from the white with a cover to the selective yellow, did you see a major distance drop with the covers? I have a set of D2 driving pattern i had on my dodge, i had the clear covers just to protect them and amber covers. I threw the ambers on one morning going to work and it was almost like the lights where getting half the power to them. Im thinking of running the selective yellows in my fogs and get some a pillar mounts for the driving D2's. I am also waiting for you to test the Baja Designs sae lights, personally they look a bit better in the fog light holes but id rather have function over forum.

All the data is in that comparison link at the bottom of my previous post.

    Rigid lux comparisons:
    White: 395
    Selective yellow: 318
    Amber cover: 195

So yes the amber covers do cut output nearly in half. I agree on the Baja form, I’m waiting to see what is best in selective yellow and will mount whatever is best on my truck.

I missed the link, was on my phone at the time. I guess i need to reread the thread again. I like how the Baja Designs are a tad bit cheaper for my truck and include the wiring adapter in the kit vs Rigid. Ill keep checking back for the Baja Designs review.

You and me both! My Rigid Rago mounts just showed up today too, holding off to see if I’ll need new Baja mounts instead. :D

Well at least you didn’t attack your plate bumper with a 4” hole saw...:anonymous:
Because I’m maybe a little addicted and thought having 4 fogs I could use on the street was helpful

Fortunately Bajas will fit a 4” round hole nicely!
