The dogs are behind the muzzle and always were. Obviously the gun was unloaded and action open. There was never any danger. And its ‘resident badass’. I haven’t found a certification for it yet. If I do, you better believe I’ll update my profile. Loosen up man. You do you. Just don’t ruin for the rest of us.

Yo Steve, let’s talk before you get too far into this. I have done this a few times now, and can give you some of my thoughts on it. Also may have some/all of what you need to make this happen.

I'm sure @Built2Ride is going to give you sound advice. My word of wisdom is do not pay full price for any RTT. Hold out for those sales. CVT does quarterly sales of up to 20% off. Tepui goes on sale through REI & some members on here give discount codes. Smitty goes on sale through 4WP. Resist the urge to dive in; plan out what you want and purchase around sales. Also try to look for brands that will allow local pickup to save $200+ in shipping charges. Don't underestimate the size & weight of a RTT if you plan to take it off and store it. They're big, bulky, heavy, and take up a lot of room when stored.

Bed racks / bars that keep the tent below the roof of the cab are going to give you better fuel economy and be less top-heavy, but you're going to lose some valuable cargo space for larger items. Also consider lower mounting will limit you if you want to ever use an annex on your tent. Small trade offs to think about as you're planning. Bed racks look better and offer more variety and mounting options, but can get very expensive, and they're big to deal with if you plan to remove & store them. Bed bars are cheaper, more readily available, and easier to put on/take off, but they're limited on accessorizing.

Yep. In the best case scenario you find a half rack in which the top tubes are just above your back window.
@Pizzasteve5717 I have a couple of these. I will probably let it go, as I will be changing things up big time shortly.

@iK0NiK I will keep you in the loop on my Alum half rack. I doubt I will be going back to a bed rack after this Alucab purchase that about to go down.

I am in the home stretch. Getting 5.29s, rear bumper...selling some stuff then rolling out to check out the Alucab Canopy Camper and the Khaya.

I also want to outfit the trailer with just their RTT as well. Saw a deal on a GFC tent only, but I would rather have the Alucab do to a couple differences.
If I am not mistaken, you can’t enter the GFC tents thru the side.

I appreciate all the advise you guys! I am planning a low bed rack system maybe about a 9 inch tall bars and waiting on finding a good used RTT probably a smittybuilt one since they are the least expensive on the list! I also want to make sure I like the setup before I decide to go big on the build, just looking at all yalls tents on the trip made me jealous lol
But @Built2Ride hit me up when you planning on getting rid of them bed bars and RTT BRO!

Let’s chat. You got my number?
A bedside works well with a bed rack too.

You said it. They are endless, that’s what I enjoy about this forum. Lots of great ideas that are out there. It’s good to hear the likes and dislikes. There is always room for improvement.
As West mentioned, keep your eyes peeled for the deals. Bedrack should cost $250-400 used. RTT most go for around 1k, but you can find them for a little less like $800.
For instance, I did a quick search and found this:

Anyone else had bad experience with BFG KO2 wear?

Mine were cupped to absolute shit front and rear, even though either me or the dealer rotated them every service (5k miles). They lasted under 20k miles. :annoyed:

I took them back to Discount Tire and expressed disappointment, apparently the tires came with a 50k mile warranty so they were able to comp me around 60% of my purchase price. They gave me a bunch of BS on how it's not a factory size, I've offroaded it, my truck is too light for the tire, aftermarket suspension damaged it... All sorts of crap. I think I wasn't asking the right way, so I just outright had to ask for a refund or exchange, then they were super helpful.

I think it was probably partially due to the tire size. I went real skinny with an LT 235/85/16. They're skinnier AND taller than stock, so I'm guessing that didn't help. I decided to go with LT 285/75/16s, which are a 33" tire.

    Waiting at Discount Tire...

    New shoes...

I had to take the front mud flap off, the tire was rubbing on it pretty bad. I get a smidge of rubbing on the cab mount too, so I'll be doing a CMC.

The new tires are Pathfinder ATs. They're WAY WAY WAY quieter than the KO2s were. The ride is a lot smoother too.

    Same crap everyone else got
If you can afford it and have space, I would also keep your shell bc it will be expense to replace of you change your mind in the future or it will take forever to find a good deal on another esp color matched. Just my .02
