Is it a subtle roar while driving too? My 2011 from 25-55mph groaned a little had 100k+ miles. Ended up being the wheel bearings. After I replaced the noise went away.

 

Nah, I’ve had bad wheel bearings a few times on previous vehicles so I know what they sound like.

While it’s certainly possible they’re going bad on my truck, that’s for sure not what this is. Totally different sound and feeling.

 

Have you checked the carrier bearing?

Have you checked the rack and pinion to see it there is play in the bushings holding it to the truck?

 

You guys are starting to give me way too much credit on what I know about mechanics.

 

Your steering rack. It’s what your tie rods are connected to. The rack is attached to the truck with rubber bushings.

 

It's been like 10 fucking days of suggestions on how to fix a noise. Write a list of every possibility and post it in 1 reply. Or call the man or go see the man. This is probably the least competent way of efficiently helping fix the problem. Really sucking any existing fun out of this thread. I'm disappointed in all of you .....

This is the worse multi day convo since Bitchell revolutionized the mass colonization of attic a/c and killed off any remaining hope I had for him developing into a reconginizable functioning living organism
