    What:
    Red Cone Clean-Up Run

    - There are many downed trees on Red Cone, a trail many of us like considerably, causing "Special Individuals" to go off trail/un-official routes on Red Cone. We plan to clean the trail and block any unauthorized bypasses in order to prevent the trail from getting shut down or other unfavorable outcomes.

    When
    :
    Thursday, July 4th
    0900 Meet up

    Where:

    Conoco
    60597 US Hwy 285, Bailey, CO 80421

    Comms:
    HAM - RS2 (146.580)
    CB - Channel 5

    Helping links/comments:
    - This is a clean-up run of Red Cone. There will be downed tree's, washed out sections, snow etc. The goal is the clear as much of the trail as possible, without putting ourselves in "Unsafe" situations because of trail conditions.
    - Bring Chainsaws, Shovels, Winches if you have them, Work Clothes/Gloves
    - Bring plenty of water/snacks/food. Weather is looking to be in the mid-high 70's and sunny. So dress accordingly.
    - If you want to, you can rent tools (Chainsaws) from Home Depot
    - https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/432-red-cone
    - Technical Rating: (DIFFICULT - SEVERE) --- Do not let this deter you from helping out, if you are stock and want to help out, many of us will gladly let you ride in our trucks from the trail head.

    Going:
    @bot102
    @CO MTN Steve
    @YamaDirtrider

    Maybe:

    @Coop68
    @Littles
    @mountainmonkey
    @baileybrandon

    I love this idea and am totally willing to help out the cause, but this 4th of July wont work for me. I have friends that I have already got plans with. We should give this type of event a bit more notice so that we can gather help and coordinate tools and make it be a great thing.

    I have a family bbq or I would definitely be in on this. I also agree with In4aride as far as reaching out to the Club/group that sponsors the trail. If that hasn’t been done yet.

    Any one want to go or going to Moab this weekend 4th-7? I'll be going Thursday morning until Sat or Sun. Taking my lady and our dog in my 2nd gen. So, planning to do some semi easy things that I can also bring my dog on. Seven Mile rim, Top of the World and cliff jumping for a little dip in Mill Creek. Haven't dialed in my camp spot yet but was going to go early and see if I can get a spot near Drinks Canyon or somewhere another friend told me about. Projected weather shouldn't be above 100 so it'll be a little warm but not crazy. Asking for a friend..

    I'm not sure if you've run TOTW before, but I personally would not put that in the "easy" bucket.

    "semi" easy.. There is some room for interpretation there for sure. Depending on if I have anyone else joining I may not even run it.

    :thumbsup: Just wanted to make sure you knew what you were getting yourself into. I love that trail but it always takes all day and I'm glad to get down.

    Youll get to the bottom and want to turn around and do it again once you get some extra case gears under there.

    I've been reading up on all trail sites and checking videos of the trail. It looks fairly challenging but doable for sure with full skids, sliders, kings and 285's. Would love to have someone with that's done it before. Would just love to have another vehicle with just in case. Other wise may pass on it and find an easier one to run. Any suggestions? Must be dog friendly.

    So many trails will be re-run with new gears! The right tool for the job makes all the difference.

    I did it with skids, sliders and 265/75s on stock suspension. I used my skids quite extensively (Im a longbed) but you should be totally fine with that setup.

    I ran it last year by myself and only stacked rocks twice. On 33s skids are highly recommended.

    I did go right at the loop.

    Turned out to be a good thing because apparently there was a big old Rubicon that blew out his rear diff and was blocking the left route for a good while.

    Well the event notes only mentioned riding/cleaning up on the 4th...............

    Maybe there should be an edit if there will be additional events and dates to be included. Just a thought.

    I do have to work on Friday but Id be down to get some camping in over the weekend!
