And he still can’t afford to do anything

Yeah that's where being hourly really pays off. There are different laws in different states regarding overtime pay for salaried employees, but if you're working a lot of overtime then it's better to be hourly and take advantage of the time and a half benefits. That's about what I'm making here but...in some parts of the city it's considered below the poverty line lol. Really just depends on your circumstances though. Being married and/or having a dual income household is how everyone who isn't 'upper class' gets by in CA.

That’s his fault. SF is the most expensive city in the country.

If he moves to Daly City or even Oakland it’ll be a lot more affordable.

Does he not have the choice to move to somewhere cheaper and commute? Is Cisco forcing him to live in SF?

I don't really get why he has to live in SF. Lots of people live across the bay and commute.

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
Borrowed inner tool from Advance for the 42mm with a set of slim service open ends from Harbor for the 32mm on the rack. I can get the outers out using existing impacts. Matt's thread on tie rods was getting posts earlier this week

I haven't gone through to read the posts after this I just saw where I was mentioned but yeah I just cut the flange off it and got it pulled out just enough to do the bushings as I couldn't get it all the way out. Hell I didn't even know my truck had a diff drop.

Yeah I'm going to have to do that too, or I'll just remove the diff drop...not sure yet. But when that happened I took a closer look at my bushings and they still look fine, so I'm putting that one on the shelf for another day

Once I cut the flange it was super easy. An easy way to tell if they are bad is look at the rack and turn the steering wheel. Mine would move a lot before the wheels ever moved before I replaced them. After it doesn't move one bit. It should have been a quick hour install that took 4 hours because I didn't have all my tools at my house yet and I didn't have my extra vehicle to go get them.

My rack doesn't move but both my wheels have side to side play (with the truck off the ground, if I move one side to side by hand the other moves with it), so at first I thought maybe it was the rack bushings allowing for play but the rack seems to be solid. I'm thinking maybe tie rods now? Or someone mentioned in another thread it could be the linkage in the steering rack or something along those lines.

I'd say tie rods then but could be that the rack just needs tightened up.

$25hr is plenty when you can live within your means.
