Smoked some chops a couple days ago and saved a couple for breakfast this morning. Warmed them up in the oven and seared in the cast iron. I was thinking about using it for my submission for the competition but I liked my original plan better.

@Misplaced Nebraskan whats the benefit of that performer? I think I’d quite enjoy the extra prep room and stuff, but just not sure I need it or even have the room for it on my tiny ass patio which is the main concern I have. I already have my gas grill and pellet pooper (with WiFi ;)) back there. I feel like it might just take a bit too much space. But maybe it’s worth the space takings haha

The propane starter is pretty slick, and as long as you have table space available, It's not really necessary. If space is a concern, a regular kettle will work wonderfully. Plus, you could always build a cart for it... and add wifi to that too :luvya:... Just don't use wood as you may burn it down... :bananadead::rofl:

There's always time for some dogs and burgers. Just cook em low and slow with a wood chunk :D

Also, what part of ATX you in?

Ya. The propane starter would be nice, but a chimney works just as good. Not worth the extra space it would take up. I found another I think 18” with a cover that looked good for around 60

at least we are in the "butt of jokes club" together :fistbump:

agreed on the grill though. Any leads on a 22" kettle? I mean I'd say go 26... but 22's are easy enough to find at times and can be had for cheap. or 37...

    Indeed! :fistbump:

Haven’t seen any 22s other than those two performers I posted. Will I hate the 18 if I get it?

Awww. Jerky! I've only had my smoker for 2 months and have made 4 batches of jerky. Each time I tweak the recipe a little but I think I'm finally there. My favorite is a cross between teriyaki and pepper jerky that my friends beg for when we go golfing or fishing. I've been using the eye of round cut of meat. Good stuff!

I don't think you'll hate it at all. They are still great rigs, but most of the time (around here anyway) you can find the 22's for pretty much the same price and it always helps having some extra space. If I had to pick though, I would say 22 over 18. or both... haha. but I have a problem... (other than no wifi... :bananadead:)

I haven’t found any 22s sadly. Well, I found one but it’s too far away. Maybe I’ll just get the performer. I’m gonna go take measurements see how much space it’ll take up.

I may have my girlfriend hit that guy up on OfferUp for that red 22” though as it’s on her way home from work

Red 22 FTW! if it's available I'd go that route for sure. @Cold Iron would agree.

Red 22 or the 22 performer if you had to choose.
