I got it off a website www.partsengine.ca, but I'm sure you could find it elsewhere. It's is a FabFours Premium bumper. I paid (well the other guys insurance paid) $1280 shipped to my door. That is Canadian dollars. The stock bumper was quoted at almost $1400!

Here is my rearend story lol I am still putting it back together after it being totaled out. I would say if you are thinkink about taking the check i would clean the interior. The insurance company was saying that the seats and floors were soiled and took a good amount off of the price of the vehicle because of it...

In Texas to total it repairs have to be 70% of the value of the truck. To get a diminished value check you have added that rider to your insurance policy.

    Yeah.
Even at $14K, probably not totalled. Just looking at the pics and doing interweb diagnostic guessing, if there is frame damage, it doesn't appear to be bad. They should be able to fix that pretty easily, and it shouldn't be a big concern (other than diminished value -- a buyer just sees it had frame damage). But get them to keep jacking that estimate up. I had a 1st gen that looked way worse than yours but no frame damage. Estimate started at $6K but went to above $13K. Not totalled, it was less than a year old.

Even if it is totaled, most insurance companies will sell you your old truck back for scrap value. Then you can part it out and use the goodies from the old one on the new one! Then you tow the rest to a scrap yard and will likely still get FULL scrap value. I did it with an Audi a few years back and made out like a bandit!

Its all good, its been a little bit of a pain but I got a decent check out of the deal so I guess I can't complain too much. But its almost back together now but I am still planning on having the frame checked by a professional just in case.

Well, I finally heard back from the insurance company& repair shop on this. The $14k and change repair estimate is $3500 short of where the insurance company would start to consider totaling it, so they are having the repair guys proceed with taking everything apart. If they find $3500 of damage they missed then they will stop working on it and contact the insurance company.

Well it took them long enough but the repair shops final estimate topped 18k and the insurance has decided to declare it a total loss. I didn't take their first or second offer and am still negotiating, but sitting at $27,500 right now. They haven't let me know what it would cost to buy it back yet, but my brother in law fried the motor(metal chunks in the oil pan) in his Taco over the weekend so looking at doing that and dropping my motor and some other stuff into his.

well its not worth 27.5k. theyre already giving you more than its worth. if its paid for fuck fixing it take you 28k and look for a clean 2015 and pay cash for it, youll probably still have some cash in your pocket for goodies.

    Too few to list.
What you can do is do your own research. Price out Tacoma's preferably with similar miles and model and present 3-5 examples that would get your more money though at $27.5K, you are doing well already and doubt you can find lots of 2011 that's over that price.

The insurance will also factor in what they can get out of parts. If a vehicle has resale value of $10K and will cost $3K to fix but they can get more than $7K from salvage parts, they will total it and write you a check for $10K. If the insurance company can make money on your accident they will. They don’t care about you. They care about earning the most profit.

It's just a dinged up rear frame rail. Take as much as you can get from your insurance provider then head to a metal supplier and get $500 worth of 2" chromoly. Cut the frame rails off, mount a fuel cell, then four link it and put the other 15k in your bank account.

You should probably consider writing the guy a thank you note.

I was able to negotiate up to 28k. I guess now all I need to do is decide if I want to try to find a clean used 2nd gen or join the trolls in the third gen forums and have a truck payment. :)

Nice! Are you going to buy it back and if so at what price?

Huh, now that you put it that way I wonder if so many folks in the turd gen forums are extra irritable because they’ve got truck payments...
