Almost all 240 v welders come with a 50 amp plug, so you have to use a 50 amp receptical and 8 gauge wire and a 50 amp breaker. I really don't know the reason for this. I've had my 240 machines apart and there is no wiring inside the welder larger than 10 gauge.

The 1st thing I do is cut off that ridiculous 50 amp plug and and install a twist lock 30 amp plug. Then I can use a 30 amp receptical, 10 gauge wire and a 30 amp breaker. The items I listed will cost 1/2 as much as a 50 amp circuit.

I also get rid of the factory cord and and install a 20' in place of the 6' cord.

I have one of these machines. Works great.I run it on 230V now, but had it on 115v for a while. You will draw a maximum of 20 amps on 115V. You will need to make sure your outlet has the right breaker and is wired appropriately. It will do 1/8" easy on 115V. If you ever need more you can always get a 230V outlet.

The reason you have to run the 8 gauge is because that is the size wire needed to carry 50A. If the breaker protection exceeds the wire ampacity, the wire will melt before the breaker will trip, causing a fire.

You want to Run any of these 120VAC welders on a dedicated 20amp circuit so many just plug them in the nearest outlet and complain the welder does not have enough output.

Breakers should be sized to the rated input my XMT machines are on 50 amp

** Today was rather crazy I forget your pictures

And words of wisdom? I don't really care about looks as much as I care about strength.

    What's the wall thickness?
If that is thin wall, it looks great!

If it's schedule 40, you should be able to carry a complete bead with out any stopping.

Regardless, It will hold just fine.

I'm pretty sure D2 made his own dies by stacking plates and welding them to the shape of the dies. I hope I can too. The bender is the cheap part.

I’m rebuilding my LCAs and decided to add a built in skid plate. Used 1/4” since that’s what I had. Holy moly this thing is beefy.

Thanks its .125 wall. Was thinking my setting were high because it would burn through the edges if i slowed down my bead.

Working on some tool stands for around the garage. They have hitch receiver mounts so I can interchange setups as necessary. Plus, the hitch-mounted tools can also be used on the truck or trailer. Some tools that'll be mountable are: vise, tube notcher, tube bender, drying rack, and a small cheese plate welding table.

My co worker van do that. He was doing 2 .045 flux core guns.

I haven't had the oppertunity yet.
He also did 2 guns vertical down:eek:
