My non-tow-package truck came with a dealer installed Toyota class 3 hitch (PT791-04050). It was getting pretty rusty, so I pulled it off to clean up and repaint. When I took it off I discovered that it was completely full of water. After draining nearly a gallon of brown rusty water out of it, I found the cause. First of all, Toyota did not provide any weep holes in the bottom. This wouldn't have been a problem if they hadn't also put two holes in the top of the main bar so that plastic wire harness clips could be attached. The wiring harness for the trailer connector acted like a wick and lead moisture right into the holes and over 6 years it filled up and rusted from the inside. I'm not sure if the hitches that come with the tow-package trucks are similar, but if you have one, or a dealer installed hitch like mine, I would recommend that you take a look. Anyway, I couldn't trust the old hitch after that, so I had to buy a new one. I got it for $256 from McGeorgeToyota.com. Before putting it one I am closing up the holes on top with JB Weld, and will apply a heavy coat of Fluid Film to everything as the parts go back on. You can see the holes now filled with grey JB Weld in the below picture. If you tow, check your hitch.

First off...nice work. Amazing what even qualified people will do when it's not their own vehicle they're working on. 2nd...this is a new one to me...the Baja series trucks came std without the tow package? Basically they're an OFF ROAD with better Billy's, right? That tranny cooler is a nice toy to have.

Not that I hate chrome, but Black on SSM just looks very cool. Understated, low profile, I get the job done looks. Well done!

Bajas could be had in all flavors of OR - tow or not, access cab or 4 door, auto or manual. This was the only black, AC, auto that I could find, so I'm upgrading for towing on my own. The hitch was there with a 4-pin connector when I bought it. I've added a factory oil cooler and factory trans cooler already. It's got a much better battery and the tow-pack alternator is on my bench right now. I'll convert to a seven wire plug when needed.

I’m rebuilding my LCAs and decided to add a built in skid plate. Used 1/4” since that’s what I had. Holy moly this thing is beefy.

I'm also going to wrap this around the eye and tie into the arm for extra strength.

Rotate and balance (had to return twice for a rebalance) at discount tire, alignment at firestone (slightly higher caster dialed in but they refused to do my custom specs) and it pulls slightly to the right.

Basically, got a rotate, unbalanced my tires and barely my caster but mainly no improvement my alignment. So.... wasted a day.

A lot of crap and too much money spent
The wrap around the eyelet is what I was wanting to do for sure.

Just a wash. Last one was about a month ago. Have had a week off and long weekends in that time. Been exploring & fly-fishing in northern Maine.

Edit - and cleaned my Husky Xact Contour floot mats....they was dirty too.

The letters came with it, but you have to put them all on with the tiny screws included. What a pain lol.
