I've been hearing some talk about oceano svra closing indefinitely after July 11th. Anyone have any more info on this?

No, not closing for sure, no one knows yet. July 11th is when the meeting is going to be held to discuss the future of Pismo (Oceana Dunes SVRA).

Just google it, it's all over the internet. You'll easily find all the current info.

If you don’t belong to CORVA or Cal4Wheel or even the Blue Ribbon Coalition, you should join and support groups who are working to preserve our rights.

You can find CORVA on Instagram. Same with the others. Find the email address and send email. Now. Because frankly, this is probably a done deal unless people express their concerns now.

I’m probably going to get a lot of flack for this but...fuck it...close that shit down. Maybe it’ll light a fire under people’s asses.

Until we as enthusiasts come together and get organized, educated and follow the tread lightly mantra we are going to continue to see this time and time again followed by petition after petition.

This thread is a prime example of inaction.

Sign up for DNR newsletters and information. Go to meetings and public hearings. Become tread lightly trainer, the list goes on but it ends with everyone getting involved.

Reading the article most of the concerns are related to air quality targets and thus don't have much to do with "treading lightly" but point taken.

While Tread Lightly is a great idea, rarely is it the reason for closure. Fore sure, more people need to learn the forest or other OHV accessible areas are not a toilet/trash can, that’s not really relevant in this case. Pismo is about greed and money under the guise of environmental cause.

You are right tho. Most OHV users are not joiners or even willing to write letters until the shit hits the fan-Pismo has been happening for years. First, snowy plovers. Then little chunks of land and “studies”, and now particulate matter.

There are or have been closure or reduction fights in many state SVRA parks-forests have motor vehicle use plans which often severely limit access. Anyone remember Clear Creek?

Support groups who work to protect access. Write. Go to meetings when you can. If you don’t, you have no one to blame but yourself when the gates are closed.

Air quality is just an excuse. The coast always has good air quality because the ocean wind pushes all the bad shit into the valleys of california
