Doesn't the linked article say not to do exactly what you are doing?

"Representatives of International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) member-societies in Europe are advising restraint (unemotional, dispassionate, or moderate behavior; self-control) in the wake of a proposal to consider the allocation of 146 – 148 MHz to the Aeronautical Mobile Service (AMS) at World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 (WRC-23)."

RSGB VHF Manager John Regnault, G4SWX, in a related Moon-Net post, said the flood of “fake news” on the issue propagated via social media and online petitions does not help Amateur Radio’s position.
“All IARU member societies have been briefed on a common position and messages for Amateur Radio,” Regnault said. “This message is not helped by the many wrong messages abounding on social media."

Interesting. Seems as if IARU region 1 (Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Northern Asia) would be mostly affected as it was only proposed by France at this moment. Unless I have it wrong and it is a worldwide allocation. Kind of hard to find information. I can see how this could easily spread world wide though.

    Signed as a fellow ham.

Yes, you’re right. I actually thought I was linking to this article:

    http://www.arrl.org/news/no-strong-opposition-to-144-146-mhz-reallocation-proposal-at-cept-meeting

which is the one I read. I hadn’t realized another article had been published since then.

I’m not sure I’d consider signing this petition to be an unrestrained or emotional act. I suppose that maybe in the sense that the author of that petition is passionate and signers of said petition are attempting to make their perhaps sympathetic views known, I’d say it’s more likely that they’re just wanting to state that they want to keep the band allocation for amateur use, and they are rallying together to share the news and take more effective action. Like joining the ARRL.

These types of petitions are pretty toothless when it comes to actually changing policy. Kind of trite in that sense really. But I’d bet that it stirs the pot among the ham community and a certain percentage of people who hear the rumblings through social platforms, will become ARRL members.
