So reading through the 4.88 Mega thread it seems the majority of guys are auto trans guys hence why 4.88 seems the MINIMUM for 35s and perfect for 33s, but what about us 2.7 guys with a 5spd manual (3rd gen)?

Final drive for us 3.92 (maybe 4.10?) and as bad as I want to regear, I feel like 4.88 would be way to much gear for 33s and about perfect rpm for 35s - if my math is correct.

Any thoughts from 2.7 manual guys out there who went 4.88? Info below is based off the Grimm Jeeper gear calculator with the correct W59 trans:

    265/75/16 (current tires) + 3.92 = ~2500 rpm @70

33s + 4.88 = 2956rpm @ 70 (little high for me personally doing lots of freeway driving as my daily)

    35s + 4.88 = 2787rpm @ 70mph (perfect with some added oomph for the 35s).

I would love 4.56 + 33s to avoid the hassle of 35s, but to my knowledge you can’t find any for 3rd gen trucks. 35s are fantastic looking though and worth the trouble as well as I’ll be going Nitto TG 35x11.5

    If I had a 2.7 and going 33's, I would go 4.88 or even 5.29.

What kind of use are you basing that off though? According to the gear calculator above 529s would be running you well over 3000rpm on the freeway and I just can’t justify that with it being my DD. A crawler I could trailer up to the rubicon? Sure. DD just too much imo
