Haven't reached this milestone with the Taco yet but before I got the truck I traded in my 05 Highlander in for it with ~368k...Used M1 every 5k w/ either OEM or M1 filter.

based on poll results roughly 94% change oil between 3k-12.5k miles
& roughly 87% change oil between 5-10k miles
2/3 poll respondents do it every 5k (my preference on the matter)

only 6% do the other options listed
like never (hahaha) & 36k (wow & amazing)

    results baby

You guys with the super high mileage 1GR's.. how do they sound? I mean, they all tick from new, but is there anything else?

Mine has made a (piston slap?) noise when it's cold for as long as I can remember, but it goes away or gets much quieter as soon as it's warmed up. According to Youtube, a dealership, and various forums it's "normal" and some people report having the same sound for 100k or more and continuing along without issues. Mine was sounding pretty loud in the dead of winter (when warming up in the driveway), but now that the weather is warming up it's not nearly as noticeable. It sounds just like this guys video (not mine). My question is whether the motors making these noises are getting up to the quarter million mile mark.

over the years my engine has made many strange sounds
(during warm, during long drives, during winter,
& while going up hill at 30-40 in 5th gear)

I used to be very concerned, but at this point I just do an oil change every 5k, swap the air filter & sparks every 6 months, & drive the snot outta her
(as far as engine maint. goes) oh yeah - the serp belt every 75k miles

I would not worry too much about noises, specifically during warm up & winter driving
maybe get an oil analysis at blackstone....it may reveal something

Im at 361k, btw with no engine issues so far
I watched that video...most of the noises I hear are the same on mine
but there is definitely an extra sound in that video that my truck does not make

Im almost tempted to make a video of my truck warming up/the sounds it makes for comparison

2 years old now, but I'm assuming you traded the 2nd gen in? What was the mileage at when you let it go? I try to find more of these high mile 1grs out there. My 2015 is only at 44k

I know I am not at 250 but I am 230,435. Hopefully that's close enough that I don't get taken out behind the shed and whipped. Oil wise I have been using Castrol High Milage Synthetic Blend 5w/30 since the Tacoma went over 80,000 miles and I have always used the OEM filters.

my 06 TRD OR just clicked 395,105.... Oil changes @every 5K, always used Toyota Oil (5w-30), and Toyota filters. Last change sent sample to Blackstone, said all looked ok.... next change I'll send another sample. FYI I lost the original Alternator a couple of months ago@391k.

Impressive. I'm assuming these engines have the same longevity as their 5vz counterparts
