wait...isnt plastic made from oil in the first place? Im not saying what he did isnt amazing, but Im not terribly surprised either

EDIT: i cant get the video at work so i may have missed something, im just judging from the thread title

 

It is cool but I think you could accomplish the same thing by boiling plastic in a pot, catching the gas in a tube, then condensing it somehow. Just like distilling alcohol.
Unless he's hiding something else in there...

I really hope this turns into something on a massive scale in many areas of the world, including impoverished countries.
He needs to hook up with a company that can start making these things to sale if he hasn't already.

The only problem I see is it may take a lot of energy to run these machines, but it will probably make it up by selling the oil at a good price. Plus it's cheaper vs. going to find the oil.

hah... ya.. how much oil would you burn to heat this thing up to 350C. i hope it produces more than it uses.

That is incredibly simple. I have a feeling there is something else going on here that he isn't explaining.

Big Oil companies are sizing up a pair of custom concrete shoes for this guy as we speak.

 

It doesn't matter from a business standpoint, as long as you make a profit after all bills are paid including the electricity bill.
Or from a environmentalist stand point, you could use clean electricity, water, wind, solar, etc, to power it. But it still wouldn't be 100% clean no matter what you do, because the oil will still be used to power engines.

 

hmmm this is pretty interesting, and absolutely it cant be that damn easy and im sure there is something he is hiding due to the fact that it would deff be something everyone wanted. and well if he cant patent it first then hes screwed if he tells everyone how to make it.

anyway thinks for the vid it just gave me something to talk about in my environmental philosophy class for tomorrow
