I really liked the little 12v rechargeable one I got from there that plugs into the cigarette lighter, but I got an email from HF a couple weeks ago saying that I need to bring it back for a $5 coupon haha. Guess its defective or something.

Bolt head is quicker.... Why remove the diff drop? Is it causing another issue?

I bought a 1000 pack of zip ties from HD for like $15 bucks years ago and they're still going strong

Never was a fan of the diff drop, it didn't do anything noticeable to my CV boots/angles and they supposedly put more stress on the front diff bushings. Just seems like it causes more trouble than it solves.

Diff drop really has to come out? Just got new rack bushings in the mail yesterday, mine are completely gone after 2 years

The big long bolt that goes through the bushing on the drivers side hits the bottom of the front diff and won't come out all the way. Just barely though, @Teke was able to trim the bolt a bit to get it to fit.

Makes sense. I wouldn't even know how to go about removing it. I didn't even know I had it until the rack bushing replacement.

Yeah just trim the flange off and it'll go at least out far enough to do the bushing replacement. I used a hammer to get it past the diff because it still made a bit of contact.

The diff drop is just a couple of 1" or so thick washers on each of the diff mounts, just pull the two long bolts out and you can remove the washers. I think most kits come with longer bolts too so you'd probably have to source the original length bolts.

That's why they're really just a diff "tilt" rather than a drop...since it's only really tilting the front of the diff downward.

I have always been on the side of "it doesn't do anything". Not sure I will mess with it any time soon as I don't have the correct length bolts but I may one day remove it and see the difference.

It's so easy to do it would be worth doing just to see if you notice the difference or not, myself like many others didn't see any noticeable difference. But yeah you'll want to grab a couple normal length diff mount bolts first.

I just have no clue what the size of those bolts are... Next time I am at the junk yard I will try to source a pair.

I saw pics of a Ford 6.0L that looked like it was full of pudding in the oil cooler and valve covers and I was amazed that it still ran since it uses hydraulic injectors
