I have my whole single seat removed for my bass setup and I haven’t really heard a difference in road noise. And it isn’t even sound deadened yet lol.
Edit: probably because of the bass.

I used that spray rubber stuff , can’t remember name, but it acted as a sound deadener and was for automotive use...worked great.

Anyone have or had experience with the JL 8" Microsub+ ? It has a built in amp, just wondering if this is sufficient enough (not looking to shatter windows, just good bass and sound output), or if it's still better to get a separate amp.

Sometime in the next 2-4 weeks I plan on doing the dual JL micro sub 8 inch model....I just got my Kicker tweeters, 6x9, and 6.5 in from Crutchfield. Once I get some time I am installing those myself. Then the head unit and sub I will have out in by a stereo shop. For an amp I have an old Rockford Fosgate BD1000.1 that hasn't been turned on in geez probably a good 12 years with bass boost knob

Break out the multi-meter set to AC volts! That box is listed at 500w RMS, and is wired to 2ohms, so some math tells us that 31V is 500w.

I’d set the radio at 70% volume, and the bass knob at 70% volume, then play a 40hz tone and meter the speaker output on the amp and set the gain at 31V. Also, make sure all other settings are where you want them and the speaker is not connected during this

Nope. I haven’t installed a system since I was around 18 or so.... I can do speakers. I can probably do the head unit. Hell I can probably do the whole damn thing but I work 6 days a week running a small business with 3 kids also.... don’t feel like screwing with the amp wires and subs. What do I need that for anyways?

Crutchfield has $30 off the 8" JL Microsub and $40 off the 10" JL Microsub. Don't know how long the sale is.....but I placed my order

So I ended up going with the JL Audio
CS110TG-TW3. It fits with no problem behind the passenger rear seat and all i has to do was remove the plastic bin behind the passenger seat with no further modifications. It is short enough to fit under the LATCH anchors which is a plus.

    Thanks everyone for your advice.

So far so good. Very happy. Sounds a lot better than the 8” bazooka tube it replaced.

Guys I know this is 3rd gen land but I’m wondering if anyone can tell me if this
    JL Audio ACP108LG-W3v3
    MicroSub+™ 250-watt 8" powered subwoofer
    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13693330/JL-Audio-ACP108LG-W3v3.html
8” sub plus amp would fit behind the seats of my 2008 (2nd gen) TRD Sport Tacoma? Looking for options outside the JL Stealthbox and Other smaller units like the Kicker Hideaway and Alpine PWE-S8
    Thanks in advance !

Actually upon further review it looks like the 10” ported option is even slimmer than the 8”??? And when I compared them side by side the height is the same at

    PowerWedge+™ 10" powered subwoofer
    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13693334/JL-Audio-ACS110LG-TW1.html
    compared specs:

    Width 18-1/2" 18-3/4"
    Height 11-1/8" 11-1/8"
    Depth 5-7/8" 6-5/8"

Why would you only put the base knob at 70 % I thought that it was to be checked with bass knob at max. Also were are you finding the 40hz tone ? Just some were online?
Thanks getting ready to do a amp install.

I like to have my bass knob where I can turn up the bass when the radio is at lower volumes. If my radio is set to maybe 20 but a song comes on and I want to feel it, I’m not restricted to that same volume level of bass. I have 30% more headroom I can turn that knob.

Just always keep in mind that if you’re volume is actually up in that 70% range, you don’t need to max out the bass knob.

for a test tone, you can get them here (50hz works fine instead of 40hz)
    https://www.kicker.com/test-tones

Or you can use an app on your phone like SignalGen (through USB or aux, not Bluetooth)
