I tried searching through the forums for a solution, but only found similar issues on 2nd gens. Between 1500-2000rpm, this rattling noise occurs that sounds like it comes from the passenger side. I checked to see if the heat shield on the catalytic converter was loose at all, nope.

Any ideas what it could be?

Silly question, but do you have anything in the ashtray?

Check the heat shield on the exhaust manifold. That was an issue on mine a while back.

I would bet money that your exhaust manifold is cracked. Mine was cracked completely through on my 1999 2.7L. Had it replaced....quiet ride now
