Where did you pick up the plastic sheeting for the amp install?

Menards, it's over by the sheet glass and plexiglass. It's High Density Polyethylene (HDPE).

Thanks for the link. Can I ask besides the unit what else is needed? I heard in the video about a part to make usb work and a dash kit. Also the website says the stock backup camera doesn’t work. Did you find a workaround?

The usb adapter was supposed to come in my order(comes with all canbus versions of the headunit, but was missing in my box), but it was not in there. As for the camera not working, didnt have to do anything other than plug it into the back of the radio. The harness plugs into the factory camera plug, then you plug the yellow rca into the video input on the headunit.

So in order to get this to work, you need the canbus version of the headunit, and the scoche dash kit (for the mounts). Everything else is plug and play. I will update when I get the usb adapter though to confirm that works.

I feel so bad continuing to bother you but which dash kit are you using from scoche. They seem to have 4 options on their site. Sorry again but thank you for all the info.

No worries, I would rather help someone get what they need than them spend lots of money on something that wont work.
    I ordered this kit
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XYBT88X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So I've found a issue, not sure it's with the radio or with my cb. But when I key on the cb, I get feedback (like a mic feedback at a concert) through the cars speakers.

I pulled the CB down and wired it away from the radio but it still does it. I'm going to wire it to its own battery to disconnect it from the trucks electrical system to see if it's just feeding back through the cars 12 volt system.

Looks to be a grounding issue that was just suppressed by the OEM radio. Going to run some new grounds tomorrow and see what happens.

EDIT: found the issue, my antenna wires shield was broken right at the antenna, the ground in there was completely broken... so time to order a new one.

Thank you, I pulled the trigger on it, only confusion left is if the app is enough or if I need the dongle for it for Apple play. I’ll find out soon enough. Thank you again for the help.

I played around with the android auto last night. Seems nice, seems limited, but its a good interface. I dont like that you have to search songs on your phone to play them on the headunit though.

I also installed a police scanner app, lets me listen to all the police/fire/ems in the country.... chicago is fucked...

That’s funny, what app did you use? Haven’t got my ship order yet but got the confirmation, assuming since it’s china warehouse it might take awhile. BTW did you get a chance to use the phone function and if so how’s the mic on the head unit work?

    I used scanner pro
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.scannerradio_pro&hl=en_US
They have a free version that I played with a bit, thought it was pretty great so I paid for the full version.

I have not used the phone yet, but I will try to soon.

Before buying any apps, try to get the free version as some things dont work with the radio. My DJI drone apps just crash when I try to launch them :(

That’s a bummer, will do and thank you for the advice. I’m not sure what apps will or won’t use but I think after seeing your video I may look for a launch and go from there.

There are a few nice launchers out there, I recently found out that I can map the home button to bring up my launcher, so now every time I hit the home button it doesnt take me to the normal android dash but rather my launcher. Much more streamlined now.

That I like. Would prefer to go to launcher. Looks like from a email with joying no dongle required for Apple play when using that app. Will test it when it gets here but with China warehouse I assume a month or so.
