Like the title says I have a 2014 dcsb TRD OR with 123k and just started thinking about trading it for a 2019 dcsb TRD Sport. There’s nothing wrong with my 14 it’s been great just like my previous 07 SR5 AC. But I’m curious about the 3rd gens.

For anyone that made the switch from 2nd gen to 3rd gen, do you have any complaints or regrets? Are there any issues I should be aware of with the 3rd gens?

I would be keeping the 19 Sport stock just as I did the 14 Off Road. I also would prefer the 2wd version over the 4wd just because I don’t off road and have never used my rear locker in the 5 years I’ve owned it other than to test that it works.

I’ve reached out to a couple dealers trying to find a good price today. When I contacted the first dealer I actually got a quote on a sr5 dcsb for $34700 otd, which I thought was very high. I later found another dealer in the next town over and asked if they could get me in a silver TRD Sport 2wd they have in the lot for 34k out the door, they Replied with “ if we can get you around 34k otd when can you take delivery.” So, I’m going to follow that up tomorrow.

How does these prices compare with current sales?

    Thanks for any help.

If it's got the premium then that's an ok price.

3rd gens are nice. If there's nothing wrong with your 14 then don't trade it. It'll go to 200 + easy.

My 2nd gen was a reg cab 2.7 so I moved up in more ways then one which doesn't really help you. As most will say: test drive to make sure you can handle the difference in the power band without losing your shit.

As said above make sure you get an extended or overnight test drive.

I spent a couple week flip-flopping between my 2017 OR Auto and my colleague’s 2015 Sport Auto during a trip we did, and that put out of my mind any desire to own a 2nd Gen.

Absolutely, the 2nd Gen Taco has more immediate power on throttle, and shifts less often, but that’s the only benefit to the older truck, and the difference was not dramatic enough to make me want one for my own. The 3G is better in every other category.

I went from a 14 FJ UTTE 4.0 to a 17 TRD sport 4x4 ($34500 OTD) and love it but the 3.5 takes some time to just to

Dont listen to these guys just because they are right! What ever you do DONT TEST DRIVE!! Just buy it then complain about how it’s a shitty truck and you hate everything about it and Toyota builds a crappy truck!!!:rofl::rofl:!! JK!! I love my 18 O/R more and more everyday and think they are the nicest looking trucks on the road. But as stated above please test drive extensively as these trucks apparently drive funny and you either love or hate it. Drive on HWY drive up and down hills do it all and find out of you are. Love or hate! Good luck and I think you could be making a good upgrade.

Right on brother, if people would do a thorough test drive prior to purchase it would eliminate the majority of the complaining on here.

100% agree so many people complaining about the Tacoma bought the wrong vehicle. If you want a race truck that handles like a WRX STI and gets 40mpg and rides like a Cadillac Tacoma and probably every truck on this planet are wrong for you. You want a truck that will last for ever get you from A - B - C every time slow and steady Tacoma is the right truck for you!

You’ll be back. Sometimes it takes others to see the longing in another’s actions. You just can’t get these 3Gs outta your head.

    It’ll be in a 1st gen or 2nd gen. I’d take a ranger over a 3rd gen.

You can take the owner out of the 3rd Gen but not the 3rd Gen out of the owner. Or some shit like that anyways lol
