That tank is huge. How many gallons? Wouldn't laying the propane tank down have been better so it's not poking through?

18 gallon tank, laying full propane tanks on their side is sketchy, not to mention on a 5200 mile trip with 1200 miles of that being off-road.

Wow, water tank looked bigger to me. Looks very solidly secured in there.
I'm not super familiar with propane, just see some lawn mowers and forklifts with them mounted flat in holders.

    Anyway, looks good.

I don't think you're supposed to use/store regular propane tanks on their side. There are tanks designed for horizontal mounting though. That might be a good for this application.

I just wedge a pool noodle between the cab and bed on nights when it's supposed to rain. Pull it back out for driving.

    Just the basics
That's a great idea. Could probably even open the slider for ventilation if necessary.

Started 2 years ago but health issues got in the way. Still need to finish large drawer which will have a vertical and horizontal dividers. Right now two collapsible crates fit in nicely. Top drawer holds tools, cooking, utensils, freeze dried food, etc. Bottom drawer I built with slide out table/cutting board. Pic shows contents of drawer but now includes a small Stanley French Press. There is a lockable storage portion in back half of box. Pic shows contents for this hunting/fishing trip, but can hold a potable shower base with instant hot water, toilet, 4 3gal water containers, tent, and misc gear. Side boards are not hinged but fit nicely to conceal lots of stuff space for blankets, chairs, fishing poles etc. Box slides out to store in garage. Approximately 70lbs minus drawers. Custom cut back and side boards have been installed and serve to hold everything in place.

Nice platform, looks like you've done a lot of careful planning and attention to detail. What kind of 5th tire swingout is that ? and is the cutting board just in place with friction beneath the bottom slide out drawer ? anything else to hold it in place ?

Thank you. I worked up the plan multiple times until it was an acceptable compromise between form and function. I picked up a Wilco Hitchgate off Craigslist and love it. The drawer was built with a false bottom to create a cavity for the pull out. The slide has a wood stop attached to the top of the board at the back end. The cavity is 1 1/2” to accommodate the slide and stop but the face was was cut 3/4” short to create the opening for the slide. I have pictures of the build if interested.

Great. FYI I have a long bed, so if you own a shorty you will need to decide whether you lose drawer space or room in your large compartment...or a combo of both either way I can assist with the measurements

Nice build. I thought about long drawers but I couldn’t find slides I could afford. Where did you get yours?
