I currently have Firestone Destination LE 265/65R17 on my 17 Taco. I live in Maine and so all of my other vehicles I have had have always had two sets of tires (one winter one regular). How many of you do this with your Taco?

The tires on my truck seem fairly new so I had the though of maybe saving up for some good winter tires for this coming winter and then maybe selling my existing tires and getting something a bit beefier but keep stock suspension when it's not winter.

Does anyone have any recommendations for what they've done with two sets or if they've even bothered? I'm obviously looking for input for people who have to deal with harsh winters like Maine can have. If I get beefier tires does it even make sense to have two pairs or should I just look for something beefier that can function as a winter tire as well?

I'm very green with vehicle knowledge and info so this type of stuff is somewhat foreign. My prior vehicles I just went to the store and said give me whatever but I'm looking for more function AND aesthetics (and price) with the Taco. Looking forward to your input!

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
I use my stock wheels for the winter, I run Bridgestone DMV2 once the snow hits. It does make a big difference running winter tires over AT tires.
Once spring hits then I put my SCS wheels back on.

I've got 255/85r16 ST MAXXs for summer and some 265/70r16 Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3s for winter. Had to skimp on new wheels when I purchased the tires last year because I'd just taken on some student loans but this year I'll get some cheap steel wheels for my winter tires. If anyone in Canada doesn't know where to get a cheap set of steelies definitely try Canadian Tire, cheapest steel wheels I can find in town....just don't get them to install them unless you want hell to pay.

I run Blizzaks on a extra set of rims in the winter here in Massachusetts. Probably not necessary but I travel the highways for work. So a little added piece of mind with the dedicated snows.

I’m in RI and I got by with OEM Dunlop’s last winter. I toyed with the idea of 2 sets of wheels but I don’t have a garage or a shop, just a dirt driveway, so swapping out wheels on my own would be a PITA. I’ve decided that this fall I’m going to switch to Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S 16” tires. Not sure if I’ll run 245s or 265s, which would be beefier. My plan is to get a set on alloys and run them as my year round tires. They seem to be very well reviewed as a good balance of on road and mild off road performance.
