What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Good to know. I always do my changes when the truck is warm, maybe 20-30 min after shutting it off (not a fan of getting hot oil splatter on me).

What's interesting is back when I used to take my truck into Oilstop (local drive thru place) the light never came on when starting up after they were done, but they'd be done in 20 min or so and of course I had just driven in so it was still hot.

Either that or they never actually bothered to change my oil filters lol. Any way about it I do all that stuff myself now but I'll put some oil in the filter next time and see how that goes.

 

No shame in that, I do it myself now but not so much to save the money...but more because I enjoy doing it. Everyone's got different priorities and interests.

 

yes I can relate to working at a quick lube 10 or 15 minutes is what we pushed so that pit guy had the hottest of the hot down under there

 

there is a recent DIY shop here locally now that I can rent a lift and give it a shot
there are a ton of bolts on the skid plate to remove, but after that it easy peasy i would think and then the difficulty getting the skid bolted back up there properly
can't be worse than the early 2000s changing the late 70's Corolla up and underneath when I could better manage the suffering lol

 

i can change my own air filter and enjoy doing that, unfortunately it doesn't need changed as often as the oil does

 

At least you don't have to remove a 55lb steel skid plate every time lol. I use the floor jack though so it makes it pretty easy. It's pretty beat up and bent so lining it back up is the hardest part usually.

I'd just add little by little so the filter soaked it up. Never filled the thing since it would just pour right back out

 

Id just carry a gas powered compressor in your trailer then. I doubt any on board compressor could keep up with constant air tool usage.

 

I'm going for space saving here, not doing anything crazy that requires a massive amount of air.

 

I missed this part; you can regulate the flow down to 100psi if you're going to run air tools as well.

Even less if you used it for an air locker.

 

Not sure if you'll get the cfm your after from the ac compressor to run tools.

I think the arb twin can run air tools straight off of it.
