    Updated!

    What
    :
    Red Cone Clean-Up Run

    - There are many downed trees on Red Cone, a trail many of us like considerably, causing "Special Individuals" to go off trail/un-official routes on Red Cone. We plan to clean the trail and block any unauthorized bypasses in order to prevent the trail from getting shut down or other unfavorable outcomes.

    When
    :
    Thursday, July 4th
    1100 Meet up

    Camping through the weekend!
    Any trails in the area?

    Where:

    Conoco
    60597 US Hwy 285, Bailey, CO 80421

    Comms:
    HAM - RS2 (146.580)
    CB - Channel 5

    Helping links/comments:
    - This is a clean-up run of Red Cone. There will be downed tree's, washed out sections, snow etc. The goal is the clear as much of the trail as possible, without putting ourselves in "Unsafe" situations because of trail conditions.
    - Bring Chainsaws, Shovels, Winches if you have them, Work Clothes/Gloves
    - Bring plenty of water/snacks/food. Weather is looking to be in the mid-high 70's and sunny. So dress accordingly.
    - If you want to, you can rent tools (Chainsaws) from Home Depot
    - https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/432-red-cone
    - Technical Rating: (DIFFICULT - SEVERE) --- Do not let this deter you from helping out, if you are stock and want to help out, many of us will gladly let you ride in our trucks from the trail head.

    Going:
    @bot102 borrowing saw. Camping
    @CO MTN Steve buying saw?
    @YamaDirtrider Winch, possible saw. Camping

    Maybe:

    @Coop68
    @Littles
    @mountainmonkey
    @baileybrandon
    @johntoyota

    1 idk about that early of a meet up time....
    2 who all is still planning on going and bring a chain saw?[/QUOTE]

    I’m down for a Friday and/or Saturday camping once locations get established. I’ll likely get off work a little early on Friday so I could probably get there at a decent time.

    Edit: I have a chainsaw

    I ran it last year with my family just our taco. Nothing to crazy you could definatly get your self into trouble, I ran some crazy lines knowing that my good friend WARN would help if needed.

    I was fine on TotW with basically bone stock (just slightly better/bigger tires) until I got to the ledges. And while I probably could have gotten up and down them with minimal damage, it would have taken more time and effort than it was worth for the time we had, so we just walked the last bit. As I recall there were only one or maybe two other places where it would have been just as iffy, but still doable. Thing is, trail conditions can change, so it may be easier or harder right now than when I ran it.

    I think it's called Dolores Overlook. The trail head isn't far from the Dewey bridge and the views rival that of TOTW.

    Buffalo Springs CG is supposedly the base of operations for re-seeding burn area from last year. It’s only maybe 3-400 yards from Hwy so not sure what you’re looking at.
