What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

In that case just get a tank that you can put in the bed for work. I wouldn't mount it permanently

 

I understand I can just get a gas compressor and stick it in the trailer, but I’m not going to lug my cargo trailer around every time I have a job I need to do with some air tools.

I figured the ARB Twin compressor with an air reserve tank is more than enough for the very light duty air tools I use. The bonus of being able to use it to air up tires is also nice.

 

Why is that, I’m just curious why a permanent tank isn’t a good idea.

 

How often do you have a job that requires "light duty" air tools? If light duty is just a wimpy impact gun and ratchet setup, Id just grab the battery versions from harbor freight. Seems like you want to put a lot of effort/money into a small problem that really isnt even a problem.

There's enough of a film layer from the last run to more than let the oil pump reprime.

 

Won't really help you that much and takes up space. Only good place to mount a tank is under the bed and you've already said you don't want to do that. Seems like a logical choice to just have a tank inline when you want it and not there the rest of the time. Every other situation the arb twin alone will be plenty.

 

If your going full on broverlander expo rig, sure go for it. But for what you describe its just not necessary. Heck, I have an assortment of air tools in my garage that I dont like using cause its a pita to pull the compressor out, drain it etc. I will always try using a regular old breaker bar/mallet/ratchet before I go for my impact, and I deal with the best thread locker ever, rust. Sorry that Im trying to save another college kid some bucks.

 

I think you misunderstood me, I am willing to mount under the bed. I just don’t want to remove the factory spare.

 

Get a swing out bumper

 

And fill the steel tube with compressed air. Problem solved.

 

Since we're discussing unnecessary additions, has anyone gotten their steering wheel balanced recently.

You guys can't see when I do it through text, so I wanted to cover my bases on here too.

 

In front of the tank, you can see it peaking over the crossbar.

 

There isn't room with the spare under there. That's my point. So just have a quick disconnect in the bed. When you have a job. Throw the tank in the bed with a small hose on it to go to the quick connect then plug your tools hose straight to the tank.

Remove when needed. Add it when needed.

Every other situation (outside offroading shit) you won't need the tank. It won't help with filling tires.

 

I just got the winter air out of my tires and switched over to summer air.

Best of both worlds. Even if you want it offroading you can put it in the bed to try it.

Keeps the bed free. Spare under the bed. It's all good.

 

I like that, a removable design. Take it out when I don't need it. I guess the compressor is going in my toolbox, would've been nice to fit it in the cubby hole.
