That might be the best you’ll get then. I get it — I don't go 65 on the hwy if all lanes are going 75. But I think you’ll be hard pressed to improve those numbers if you drone at 80 often.

I don't get eighty much, rare occassions. Truck seems to like low to mid 70s for max cruise speed .

All these numbers everyone is throwing out there are meaningless. Example: one will say they average 18 mpg while another says they average 24. Some will wonder why the discrepancy. Easy, one has a 3.5 while the other has the 2.7. It would be easier to do polls: one for the 3.5 and one for the 2.7. But then you'd have to break it down even further because of mods or lack there of. Showing pics of mpg from the gauge cluster is even less meaningful as just about anyone can get great mpg over a short distance. I really love it when someone posts they get horrible mpg but yet they don't adequately track it.

Probably true for the most part as there is not data collection controls here. Its social media and mostly need to read between the lines

Yeah, Fuelly is your friend. You can break it down by submodels and options. Everything I do to get solid mpg numbers worked just as well in my Honda Fit. But some cars need context. My Infiniti M sedan got the same crap mileage no matter how I drove, so I drove like a maniac since it didn’t matter.

I usually do 13-14 on the highway when Im traveling because I drive at 80-85mph. When I ride super chill on the highway at 60-65 for the 10mi it is from work to home and backwards, or even going to school at 40-45mph I usually hit 19mpgs, unless theres a wind for or against me. If that wind is in my favor Ill do 22ish against me 15ish. One time however, going between 60-70 for about 30mins with the wind helping me I got 22mpgs so yeah...

Absolute best I ever achieved (not downhill or for a mile in optimal conditions) was about 24 MPG. Generally 18 MPG, much less if loaded for a trip.

Because the vast majority of my driving is done circling the mall.
I wanted to find out what people who actually drove on something other than a perimeter road got.

The best I’ve gotten is right at 21 mpg on a trip to Tennessee and back. I work close to home and only average 17ish. I drive w/ the ECT depressed because I like the shift points better. Current setup is stock tires running 30psi.

I disagree, I want to know what the best and worst are. Yes, there's an average in there but...!

Back in my misspent youth (a really time ago) I owned a 69 Olds F-85 into which I had had dropped a blown 400 big block. It would pass anything but a gas station and was capable of breaking the posi-locked tires loose with ease at >60 mph.
At some point I became fascinated with seeing what the car could do, not just speed wise, but mpg's as well.
Going from negative numbers i.e. gallons per mile to an actual mpg. Hypermiling was a thing back when gas went over a dollar per gallon too ya know :)

I have always wanted to see what the limits to life were. Skiing the French Alps or jumping out of perfectly good airplanes or staying home with the wife of 31 years watching a Hallmark movie. (the latter being far more harm inducing IMHO)
Always finding balance and harmony somewhere in between.

I believe that it was Clint Eastwood who said "A man's got to know his limitations."

Yeah, the truck is about as aerodynamic as a brick sitting sideways.

I know several people with Gen 3's who've told me that their best mpg's to date were @ 35-37,000 miles on the ticker.
    This fits in with that.

Actually the picture was heading home "from" the beach.
Though technically, it was a coastal drive without a dramatic change in elevation from start to finish though there are peaks and valleys along the way.
Down to was about 2 mpg less but that IMHO was due to sitting in the SBL traffic jams heading to the beach.

I'm curiousity to know where the edges are too, been there, done that. But this was a case of claiming that a short high mileage run result was going to be "skewed" by other less efficient short runs when in actuality both the highs and lows are blended to produce the average. Overall mileage improves when you increase one and decrease the other(or the time/miles spent doing well or poorly) but in terms of how far you can go, tank average is inescapably what it boils down to. Someday maybe I'll get the chance for a perfect run under ideal circumstances w/out having to resort to hypermiling but real world driving puts obstacles like mountains and headwinds in the way. Those count just the same as the easy miles.

Btw, glad you had time for the fun stuff too.

162 mile trip all on the interstate from Raphine Va to Tysons Va (I81 to I66.) I kept my foot out of it the entire trip and attempted to keep the truck at 1700 rpm at ~62 mph. Mainly I pulled out on the interstate after fueling and pulled into a gas station after jumping off.

Hand calculation after fuel top off was 28.93 mpg (162.2 miles / 5.6 gallons of premium).

The trip computer claimed 29.4 mpg.

Google maps verified the distance within a mile of the odometer reading.

This is with the front air dam removed and a 2" lift on factory street tires. I don't typically drive like a senior citizen but it's nice to know the truck can really stretch the mileage when and if required.

My average on this frequently traveled stretch of road is typically more like 21.5 mpg doing 77 mph and using sport mode to pass hyper-milers every chance I get. :)

Nice. I've been amazed how well my truck does on the interstate if I keep it around 60. I too have found my MPG falls off a cliff at 70 and above.

I live in a very hilly area, so she’s always downshifting on me. But on a fall road trip I once got 22.1 mpg. More recently In freezing temps with a couple hundred pounds in the back I got 20.3 mpg. These are with the air dam removed, 265 tires and a tonneau.

my usual work commute in my hilly AO: 17-18.5
