I thought that puddle lights can be turned off by the dome light switch?

This is not a puddle light issue. This is how the dome circuit is in the Tacoma(since the puddle basically emulated the dome). You will notice the dome doesn't turn on that way either.

Had some people ask about a red light version. I won't be able to redesign the internals, but I might look into a red lens overlay. A "OFF" switch wouldn't be a bad idea, I just haven't had enough requests in order to make it an option.

Negative. Although the puddles tap off the same DOME circuit, it taps off BEFORE going up to the overhead console. So any switch position overhead does not affect the puddles themselves

Oi just finished this install. 6 hours top to bottom. During the install I was cursing everything under the sun. “This is absolutely not worth it”. Now that they’re installed I gotta say. Absolutely fucking worth it.

For those who haven’t installed yet, pages 141 and 142 of this thread are important. @Ennui dude you saved me hours with that god damn door panel harness. Your tips really helped. I was praising your name during the install.

    Lastly, buy this tool.

Don't feel bad with the 6 hour install, I think I got you beat lol.

Glad the tips helped, and like you said after 100% successful install it is abso-fuckin'-lutely worth it :p

Here I thought my 4 1/2 hour install was long, I was trying to be so damn careful with the mirrors, not to drop em or scratch anything. Plus I had to watch the door panel removal video a few times :D

For that tool I'd guess to fish the wire/connector through the drivers side boot..? I thought somebody said to use a big zip tie or something but idk where that tip is.
I of course did neither, used a somewhat firm wire and just trying to get it through the boot took me about 10 min and a couple of ripped nail beds. I think that tool or maybe the zip tie thing are prob the best way to go.
    Passenger side boot is cake.

Btw I don't remember the complete instructions but does it say to roll down the windows before you start removing the door panel? Yea , learn from my mistake lol

I used this tool for fishing the wires through the door boot and more importantly fishing the wires from the floor up behind the dash to the pillar. There is a video of the entire install in here. Proved very helpful to me.

Going through the driver's door, I am glad I completely removed the boot from the door and frame. It is simply too full of other wires to get the MESO connector through. My hands weren't as enamored with me doing it, but it is the only way I would do it. No way I am going to find out some time in the future that I nicked a random wire while doing this install.

I just used a piece of electricians fish tape for other needs...going through the center dash, going up to the A-pillar.

Lots of helpful information in this thread. Like taping your socket to prevent the mirror nuts from falling into the door. Another one of my favorites was removing the little white clips that hold the triangle plastic mirror trim on the door and placing them on the cover for reinstall. This prevents you from pushing them through the door frame and loosing them into the door. Read, watch, install. Love my meso puddles. I would like the option to leave them on like the rear cargo light, but the fade in/out with the dome lights is a far more useful feature. So if I can't have both, I prefer the fade.

I would be interested in a kill switch. It would nice to have the choice of having it off when camping in close proximity to other people.
