I think there's a few of us. Depends on how you have things setup for your front camera. I have the Anytime Backup Camera along with a front camera harness. This kit came with a switch that allows me to toggle the front or rear cameras on at any time. To connect the second switch, I tapped: green from ECT secondary switch to green from ABC switch and black from ECT secondary switch to red from ABC switch. In this case, the red ABC wire supplies 12v, and the green sends that power both to a relay to switch the headunit input and to power the front camera. By tapping into those two wires, I'm essentially recreating the same mechanism already in place in the ABC switch.

And when you tap the switch on the shift knob do you get the front camera as a solid or do you have to hold it down to keep the camera up ? Just wondering as I would like to turn the camera on to see the trail with two hands on the wheel.

The shift knob buttons are momentary, so only complete the circuit while pressed. For me, this is fine. I use this button for adjusting parking when pulling into spaces. Very convenient to have it on the knob so I can change gears if needed without losing the camera. Purely a convenience thing. I have the ABC switch for when I want the camera active for more than a few seconds. I'd recommend the kit regardless of having a switch on the knob for a front camera.

Do you have a install video of your set up so it will help others like myself that are trying to do the same?

I don't have an install video or pictures. I could get some later but my wiring is...messy. You're better of taking a look at the ABC thread because there are a number of wiring diagrams in there. For this mod, it's as simple as tapping into two wires. Meso himself also had a diagram in this thread, I thought. Probably about 10 pages back.

I ran mine behind where the ECT button is down to the left. Then A long the Passenger side consul then up to the shifter. Mine has not come on hot ones and I do not have their shrink wrap or anything holding the plugs together.

I had that issue too, when I routed the harness on the passenger side. Once I moved the harness on the driver's side of the console, I haven't had them disconnect at all. I was even able to remove the heat shrink.

And I shoved the connectors into the white part of the knob. Like in @kjhadfield's post below:

Just tried the pass side routing this time. Both times on the driver popped out. I did it use shrink this time just in case. I’m getting pretty good at this center console removal. Had to do it on the side of the road last weekend when I took the munchkin to Mt St Helens. The hills sucked without it working. :)

Made a new piece that would allow light through and installed small led.

Yeah, annoying. The other end of the wire is still in the connector too. This is from his first initial batch of 20 knobs, and haven’t had an issue with it for months since install. Last night ect wouldn’t work. Just popped the console and this is why. Guessing it had too much tension and just snapped while shifting. I’ll be trying to fix this tomorrow when I do my speakers. I hope I can fix it, I’m not the most dexterous person when it comes to very small objects that need work

I finally got around to it and installed the ECT mod. One of the simplest yet awesome mod on my Taco this far. Thanks to everyone for the instructions and making it easier. :hattip:

    Great product Meso!

Does anyone know if there's a possibility of another batch of DIYs planned for the future?
